The Hamster is a Mythical rarity pet in Grow a Garden. It was released as part of the Mega Harvest update for the Summer Harvest event on June 28, 2025. The Hamster is described as being quite cute and similar in appearance to a Golden breed hamster.
It is characterized by its little ginger color with a white face, pink feet and nose, little pointy ears. It is noted that the Hamster does not have a walking animation.
How to Get the Grow a Garden Hamster
Getting the Hamster is simpler than hatching an egg, but it can still take a considerable amount of time due to a luck factor. To acquire the Hamster, you need to fulfill two main requirements:
Obtain Summer Coins
The Hamster costs 15 Summer Coins to purchase. Summer Coins are a new in-game currency introduced with the Summer Shop, similar to Honey Coins from the Bee Swarm event.
You can earn Summer Coins by submitting summer fruit into the wagon located in the center of the play area during the Summer Harvest or Mega Summer Harvest events.
Purchase from the Harvest Shop
The Grow a Garden Hamster is exclusively available for purchase from the Harvest Shop (also known as the Summer Shop). It is not obtainable from new Oasis Eggs or Summer Eggs.
To access the Summer Shop, you need to interact with the Georgia (NPC), who can be found to the left of the Summer Harvest wagon. After interacting, select the “Show me the Harvest Shop” option. Since the Hamster is a Mythical rarity pet, you will need to wait for it to be on sale in the Harvest Shop. The shop refreshes every 30 minutes, so it’s recommended to check back regularly.
Grow a Garden Hamster Special Ability
The Hamster possesses a unique trait called “Hamster Wheel” which focuses on boosting crafting speed. It runs on its little wheel every 3.05 minutes to activate 30.45% crafting speed boost. Pets in Grow a Garden have traits that can improve as the pet ages, potentially resulting in a shorter cooldown, better chances, or other buffs.
The Hamster’s ability is specifically beneficial for crafting. It is most useful if you are crafting items with a high crafting time and want to obtain them quickly, such as sprinklers.
