The Oil Mutation is a valuable and distinct crop alteration in Roblox: Grow a Garden, introduced as part of the Kitchen Storm update.

How to Obtain Grow a Garden Oil Mutation
Oil Rain!
During an Oil Rain event, the in-game island transforms, turning yellow as oil visibly falls from the sky. Random crops within your garden have a chance to become Oil-mutated.
This weather event is admin-exclusive, meaning it can only be activated by game administrators, such as the developer Jandel, during special “admin abuse” events. It does not occur as part of the regular weather cycle.
Oil Rain events are often scheduled approximately an hour before new game updates are released, commonly on Saturdays. Players can monitor official announcements, such as those on Discord, for information regarding these events.
The Oil Rain event may be related to the Junkbot Raid weather event, sometimes following it in sequence, as the Junkbot Raid’s description mentions “Oil or Boil”.
Junkbot (Pet)
The Junkbot is a robot pet capable of applying the Grow a Garden Oil Mutation to nearby crops in your garden.
This method is considered a more consistent and reliable way to obtain the mutation over time. The Junkbot pet has a 14% chance to grant the Oil Mutation to a random crop every 14 minutes. Utilizing Pet Toys can further enhance these odds.
The Junkbot is a Mythical, limited-edition pet. It was distributed as a special reward exclusively to players who participated in the Albert Admin Abuse event.
The Junkbot pet is currently unobtainable through direct purchase or drops. Players who did not receive it during the Albert Admin Abuse event may seek to trade for it with other players.
Grow a Garden Oil Mutation: Value Multiplier
Crops that acquire the Oil Mutation benefit from a 15x multiplier to their base sale value. This makes it a significantly profitable mutation, outperforming common mutations such as Wet, Chilled, Windstruck, and Choc.
Combining Grow a Garden Oil Mutation with other high-value mutations, like Gold (20x) or Rainbow (50x), can lead to substantial earnings, potentially billions of Sheckles. The Oil Mutation is also stackable, allowing for potentially rapid accumulation of in-game currency.
