Get ready, Grow a Garden fans! A massive new update has just dropped, bringing exciting new ways to power up your beloved pets and expand your farming empire. We’re diving deep into the Grow a Garden Pet Mutation Update (1.14.0), which launched on July 12, 2025. This update builds upon the previous Prehistoric update, introducing groundbreaking mechanics and a host of new content.
The Pet Mutation Machine: Transform Your Companions!
The centerpiece of this update is the brand new Pet Mutation Machine. This is where you can turn your ordinary pets into insane passive-stacking powerhouses.
To mutate a pet, it must be level 50 or higher. While rumors initially suggested a level 100 requirement, it was adjusted to level 75 and finally settled at level 50 for the full release. The mutation process costs 500 million Sheckles and takes 1 hour to complete, though you can use Robux to speed it up.
Mutations grant your pets:
- New pet variants.
- Buffed stats.
- Unique abilities on selected mutations.
- The mutation process might also change a pet’s physical appearance and enhance the effects of its existing traits.
When you mutate a pet, it will reset to level one. It’s currently unconfirmed if mutations can stack, but it’s believed that a new mutation would likely override any existing one if you mutate the pet again once it reaches level 50.
Known Pet Mutations and Their Effects
Here’s a glimpse at some of the mutations you can acquire and their effects, along with their general tiers based on community opinion:

| Rainbow | Applies an additional +20% increase to the pet’s existing passive, affecting both cooldowns and effects. This is considered the best mutation and is especially powerful on pets like the T-Rex or Spinosaurus. It has a 3.2% chance of dropping. |
| Ascended | Has a 75-90% chance to apply the Dawnbound mutation (150x multiplier) to a fruit every 360-300 minutes. It is extremely rare, with only a 0.32% drop rate. |
| Golden | Provides a 25% increase to the pet’s passive. It has a 6.4% chance of dropping. |
| Shocked | For pets like the Disco Bee, during a thunderstorm, every 58 seconds, it has a 25% chance to attract lightning, shocking nearby fruits. It has a 3.2% chance of dropping. |
| Radiant | Has a 3.2% chance of dropping. |
| Tiny | Makes the pet very tiny, gives a 20% slower hunger rate, and gains an additional 5.51 XP per second. It has a 6.4% chance of dropping. |
| Inverted | Provides an additional 30% boost to the pet’s XP per second. It has a 16% chance of dropping. |
| Mega | Makes the pet gigantic, has a 20% chance for faster hunger rate, and gains an additional 10.95 XP per second. It has a 6.4% chance of dropping. |
| Frozen | Has a 9.7% chance of dropping. |
| Shiny | Provides an additional 15% boost to the pet’s XP per second. It has a 32.2% chance of dropping. |
| Windy | For pets like the dog, every 5 minutes, there’s a 20% chance a nearby fruit becomes windruck. It has a 9.7% chance of dropping. |
| Iron Skin | Has a 3.2% chance of dropping. |
Prehistoric Event Expansion: Dino Machine Upgrades & Quests
The Prehistoric Event has been significantly expanded. You can now upgrade the Dino Machine up to five times by trading in Prehistoric Fruit, such as Ancient Seeds or Paradise Plants. Each upgrade unlocks better perks and rewards. Once fully maxed out, you’ll be able to craft Primal Eggs.
Additionally, bonus quests and rewards have been added to the prehistoric quests, helping players earn more weekly ticks and obtain items like the Bone Blossom more quickly. More crafting recipes are also available.
New Plants for Your Garden
Five new plants have been added to the game:
- Giant Pinecone
- Grand Volcania.
- Amber Spine.
- Lingonberry.
- Horsetail.
New Pets & Primal Eggs: Dinosaur Companions!
Six new dinosaur pets have been introduced:

| Spinosaurus | The rarest in the Primal Egg, at a 0.5% chance. Its passive ability is: Every 20 minutes, it devours a random mutation from 3.62 fruits in your garden, then roars, spreading those mutations to one random fruit. |
| Parasaurolophus | Its passive states: Every 30 seconds, it goes to the cosmetic crate with the highest open time and reduces its open time by 175 seconds. There is a 56.89% chance for open time reduction to be multiplied by 7.71 times. |
| Iguanodon | Its passive states: All active dinosaur type pets gain an additional 0.50 XP. |
| Pachycephalosaurus | Its passive grants a 7.49% chance to duplicate a crafted item. |
| Dilophosaurus | Its passive states: Every 10 minutes, it opens its frills and spits out venom. The venom spreads to 10.89 other random pets, advancing cooldown by 92.24 or granting 2,179 XP. |
| Ankylosaurus | Its passive states: When another player steals fruit from you, it grants a 16.78% chance you get the stolen fruit as well. |
These new pets can be found inside the Primal Egg, which can be obtained both from the shop and through crafting once you upgrade your Dino Machine to its maximum level.
New Items & Gear to Boost Your Pets
To help you level up your pets faster and enhance their abilities, several new items have been added to the Gear Shop and Crafting Table:
