Marvel Strike Force Brotherhood of Evil Mutants is built around controlling the battlefield through the application of negative effects and executing fast, impactful attacks. The original lineup featured Magneto, Juggernaut, Mystique, Pyro, and Sabretooth, forming a synergy-heavy group centered on Magneto’s powerful crowd control abilities. As the game evolved, the introduction of the Marauders team led to frequent reassignments of Mystique and Sabretooth, often leaving Magneto, Juggernaut, and Pyro to be joined by Blob and Toad in what became known as the newer Brotherhood composition. Despite these shifts, some players still choose to use Mystique and Sabretooth with the Brotherhood in Blitz for their added utility. While the Brotherhood is no longer considered a top-tier or meta-defining team in Marvel Strike Force, it remains useful in certain game modes and matchups, particularly where control and disruption can swing the outcome of a battle.

In Marvel Strike Force, the Brotherhood team is structured to operate around Magneto, whose presence enhances many of their abilities with added effects and control mechanics. Magneto, a legendary character, plays a central role as a controller and speed enabler. He is unlocked by collecting seven-star mutants, and with the broad range of available mutant characters, obtaining him is more manageable than in the past. His kit is built for control and disruption—Magnetic Force is a chain attack mainly used for cleanup, while Polarized Beam applies powerful debuffs such as Disrupt and Slow, along with clearing all positive effects, especially potent against teams like Coulson and S.H.I.E.L.D. Magnetic Vortex is his signature ability, pulling all enemies together and applying Blind, setting up area attacks. His passive fills his speed bar at the start of battle and further boosts Brotherhood allies with buffs like Speed Up and increased resistance stats, enabling him to often act first when the team is full. T4 upgrades are most important for his passive and special, and Raider is the preferred ISO-8 class due to his multiple area-of-effect attacks.

Juggernaut functions as the Brotherhood’s primary tank, designed to absorb damage and sustain the frontline. His basic attack builds charges and can grant ability energy, while his special grants multiple defensive buffs including Taunt, Immunity, and Regeneration. When Magneto is present, Juggernaut gains extra synergy with speed bar boosts and taunting capabilities. His ultimate delivers high damage that scales with charge stacks, which he builds passively each turn. Upgrading his passive and basic abilities is a priority, and for ISO-8, Barrier enhances his survivability while Striker can increase offensive output.

Pyro brings strong debuff capabilities and is often underrated for his impact. His basic applies Bleed, and his special not only applies Bleed for two turns but also removes positive effects—clearing all of them if Magneto is present. His ultimate applies Disrupt and can extend Bleeds, synergizing well with other damage-over-time strategies. His passive adds Focus and speed bar gain, and when Magneto is present, it enables Heal Block on enemies dropping below half health, even without direct damage from Pyro. T4 upgrades for his special and ultimate are recommended, and Raider suits his multiple AoE attacks best.

Toad offers utility and speed support. His basic applies Offense Down and Slow, while his special prolongs negative effects across enemies. His ultimate enables Blob’s taunt and removes positive effects from multiple targets. These effects include Blind, Bleed, Slow, Disrupt, Offense Down, and Heal Block, many of which are enhanced or triggered by the presence of Magneto. Speed control is a key advantage, with Magneto’s passive granting a significant speed bar fill at the start of battle, often allowing him to act before any opponent. Toad also benefits from speed bar boosts, making him one of the fastest Brotherhood members. The team excels in area-of-effect damage, thanks to Magneto’s ultimate ability, which pulls enemies into adjacent positions and sets them up for AoE attacks from Pyro, Juggernaut, Toad, and Blob. This synergy allows for efficient debuff spreading and damage stacking. On the defensive side, Juggernaut and Blob provide strong tanking support. Juggernaut uses taunt, immunity, and deathproof to absorb damage, while Blob adds further protection through taunts, deflects, and counterattacks, helping the team withstand extended engagements and protecting key damage dealers.

Their ideal positioning on the battlefield plays a crucial role in maximizing survivability and early effectiveness. The primary recommended arrangement is Juggernaut, Blob, Toad, Magneto, and Pyro. This setup places the two tanks, Juggernaut and Blob, on one end where they can absorb opening attacks and chain damage. Blob’s passive applies Deflect to adjacent allies, making it beneficial to place Toad and Juggernaut next to him for increased durability. Toad’s natural dodge chance pairs well with the added Deflect, enhancing his survivability. Magneto is kept toward the center, protected by the frontliners, and Pyro is positioned at the far end to reduce his exposure. In Blitz, the team excels due to its fast burst damage and early turn advantage, making them ideal for securing quick victories and maximizing Blitz efficiency.

In Alliance War, the Brotherhood shines as an offensive team, especially when targeting strong defensive lineups such as S.H.I.E.L.D. with Coulson or Ultron-based squads. Their strategy relies on opening with Magneto’s special to disrupt key enemies like Coulson, immediately destabilizing the opposing team. On defense, however, Brotherhood is less effective. They lack the sustain needed for prolonged fights and have high energy costs, making them vulnerable after their initial burst. Once their abilities are spent, they can often be finished off by a weaker second wave, making them better suited for offense. That said, at higher power levels, they can still serve a tactical purpose by absorbing multiple enemy attacks, potentially draining resources.

Any team with strong debuff-clearing capabilities poses a significant challenge to Brotherhood’s strategy, which heavily relies on stacking negative effects like Blind, Bleed, and Disrupt. Defenders, particularly when led by Jessica Jones, are a solid example due to her ability to cleanse debuffs and provide energy, while Daredevil’s immunity to Blind and Punisher’s anti-villain damage give the team staying power against Brotherhood’s initial assault. Kree teams also perform well due to their resilience and cleansing options.

In Alliance War, Hero Brawlers are one of the most effective counters. Their combination of sustain, cleansing, and strong synergy makes them ideal for absorbing Brotherhood’s early pressure and retaliating with coordinated damage. The S.H.I.E.L.D. team—especially configurations including Iron Man, War Machine, Rescue, and Falcon—can perform well when punching down, using speed manipulation and armor boosts to survive the opening turns and recover.

Specific characters also excel in countering Brotherhood. A S.H.I.E.L.D. hybrid team can also utilize Brotherhood members for added control. Combining Nick Fury, S.H.I.E.L.D. Jessica Jones can also be included in Fury-led variants to help clear debuffs, a common challenge against Brotherhood-heavy teams.

Tech hybrids provide another layer of versatility, with teams featuring Rocket Raccoon, Vision, Black Widow, Crossbones, and Star-Lord offering strong burst and speed advantages. Alternative tech-heavy lineups might include Hand Sentry, Kingpin, Vision, Yondu, and Crossbones to focus on survivability and explosive opening damage.

Scarlet Witch serves as a flexible wildcard across various setups. Her ability to redistribute health, extend debuffs such as Bleed and Blind, and apply team-wide Deflect adds significant value to teams relying on status effects or in need of additional sustain. These hybrid builds allow players to adapt their rosters creatively while capitalizing on Brotherhood’s strengths and covering for their limitations.
