Clash of Clans Beta Minion Detailed Guide

Clash of Clans Beta Minion Detailed Guide - beta minion raid

Introduction to Clash of Clans Beta Minion Detailed Guide

The Beta Minion is a fast, weak, ranged flying unit in the Builder Base, unlocked at Builder Barracks level 4 in Clash of Clans. It is the Builder Base version of the regular Minion, offering a unique twist with its attack mechanics. Instead of shooting traditional projectiles, Beta Minions throw exploding Dark Elixir at their target.

They do not have a preferred target and will attack the closest building within range. However, if enemy troops are present from a Guard Post or Zappies, Beta Minions will prioritize engaging those troops, shifting their focus until the enemy units are eliminated. This behavior makes Beta Minions effective in both attacking structures and dealing with enemy troops in certain situations.

Special Ability: Power Shot

Clash of Clans Beta Minion Detailed Guide - avatar

The Beta Minion’s ability, Power Shot, enhances its attack capabilities by allowing it to throw its first few attacks from a long-range—approximately 8.5 tiles. This extended range enables the Beta Minion to deal damage from a safe distance before it closes in on its target. During this phase, the Beta Minion’s attacks also deal increased damage, making it more effective at eliminating buildings and enemy troops within its range.

The Power Shot ability provides a tactical advantage, especially when targeting high-value structures or defensive units from a distance, allowing Beta Minions to deal significant damage before engaging in close combat.

Offensive Strategies

Beta Minions are highly effective for targeting buildings that are only defended by ground-based defenses, such as Cannons, Double Cannons, Crushers, and Multi Mortars. Their ability to attack from a long distance allows them to engage these structures without having to worry about being targeted by anti-air defenses, making them an excellent choice for clearing these areas.

Due to their Long Shot ability, Beta Minions can also continue to attack even when air-targeting defenses are nearby. This allows them to focus on key targets and deal significant damage from a distance. An upgraded Beta Minion can destroy an Army Camp before its Long Shot ability expires, demonstrating their ability to efficiently take down structures.

With a range of about seven tiles, Beta Minions excels at targeting defenses and buildings that would otherwise be challenging to reach. Their ability to stay out of the direct line of fire while dealing damage makes them versatile units in many different strategies.

Before deploying Beta Minions, it’s essential to eliminate or disable air defenses such as Archer Towers and Firecrackers. These defenses pose a significant threat to flying troops, and ensuring they are out of the way will allow Beta Minions to focus on their intended targets.

To avoid taking heavy splash damage from Air Bombs, it’s crucial to space Beta Minions out rather than deploying them in a concentrated group. Air Bombs deal substantial damage to clustered flying troops, and scattering them will help minimize the risk of losing multiple Beta Minions to a single blast.

Pairing Beta Minions with Boxer Giants can be an effective tactic. Boxer Giants can draw the attention of ground-based defenses, such as Cannons and Crushers, allowing the Beta Minions to target buildings from a distance. However, it’s important to note that Boxer Giants will not distract air-targeting defenses like Firecrackers and Air Bombs. Therefore, it’s still necessary to ensure these defenses are dealt with before deploying Beta Minions.

By strategically deploying Boxer Giants as a distraction and positioning Beta Minions carefully, it is possible to achieve significant damage, including reaching at least 50% destruction in many cases. This combination of tanking and long-range damage provides a solid strategy for dealing with bases in the Builder Base.

Defensive Strategies

To counter Beta Minions, it’s important to consider specific traps and defenses that can neutralize them effectively.

Mines set to air can trap Beta Minions as they approach key areas, especially if they follow predictable paths. Additionally, a Hidden Tesla can serve as an effective surprise trap, dealing significant damage when Beta Minions get too close.

Archer Towers, when set to fast attack mode, can quickly eliminate Beta Minions, as they are vulnerable to rapid-fire defenses. However, it’s crucial to be careful about exposing Archer Towers. Beta Minions can outrange them with their Long Shot ability, making it possible for Beta Minions to destroy the tower before it can respond.

Air Bombs are one of the most effective countermeasures for Beta Minions, particularly when deployed in areas with clusters of flying units. A single bomb can destroy multiple Beta Minions at once. Unlike the Roaster, which can be distracted by ground troops, Air Bombs are solely focused on air units, making them a reliable counter.

Lastly, positioning your base in a corner of the map can reduce the range of the Beta Minions’ Long Shot ability. By placing key defenses at the corners, you minimize the distance Beta Minions can cover with their long-range attacks, potentially preventing them from targeting critical structures before they become visible.

Synergies

Drop Ships:

Drop Ships are a highly effective complement to Beta Minions in attack strategies due to their ability to absorb damage and provide tactical advantages. As tanks, Drop Ships can engage defensive structures and take the brunt of incoming fire, allowing Beta Minions to remain out of range of high-damage defenses and continue their attack without interruption.

By deploying Drop Ships first, you create a buffer between the Beta Minions and defensive structures. This tactic ensures that the Beta Minions stay focused on dealing damage to enemy buildings while the Drop Ships engage key high-priority defenses, such as Air Bombs, Archer Towers, or even Firecrackers. With the Drop Ships providing a distraction, these air-targeting defenses are less likely to lock onto the Beta Minions, allowing them to attack with minimal risk.

Furthermore, Drop Ships can deploy additional ground troops, such as Raged Barbarians, as they move across the base. This can help clear out structures that would otherwise be a challenge for the Beta Minions or provide a strategic advantage by drawing attention away from the Beta Minions. The synergy between Drop Ships and Beta Minions is based on their complementary roles—tanking and dealing damage from a distance—which creates a powerful combination that can significantly increase the damage potential of your attack.

In conclusion, using Drop Ships as a buffer allows Beta Minions to maximize their damage potential and stay protected from key defenses. This combination is ideal for raids that require strategic tanking and long-range damage to dismantle enemy bases effectively.

Baby Dragons:

Baby Dragons can serve as an alternative to Drop Ships when the latter is either not unlocked or under-leveled. While Drop Ships are ideal for absorbing damage and providing a tanking role, Baby Dragons, due to their flying nature, can also draw attention from defenses like Archer Towers or Air Bombs.

However, the Baby Dragons’ special ability, which boosts their damage when not near other troops, might not be utilized effectively if they are used purely for tanking. Unlike Drop Ships, Baby Dragons will focus on attacking instead of distracting defenses, making them less effective in this role.

When using Baby Dragons with Beta Minions, it is crucial to manage positioning to ensure that Baby Dragons are not engaged by anti-air defenses too early, which could leave the Beta Minions vulnerable. The key to making this combination work is to deploy Baby Dragons in a way that they shield the Beta Minions from being targeted by high-priority defenses while ensuring that Baby Dragons’ natural damage output is used effectively.

Boxer Giants:

Boxer Giants are a great choice for distraction when paired with Beta Minions in attack strategies. Their high hitpoints and focus on defensive structures make them ideal tanks for protecting more vulnerable units, such as the Beta Minions. By engaging the enemy’s defensive buildings, Boxer Giants keep those structures occupied, ensuring they draw attention away from the Beta Minions.

This allows the Beta Minions to focus on attacking buildings in the outer layers of the base, particularly those that aren’t well-defended by anti-air defenses. Because Beta Minions are capable of dealing significant damage with their Power Shot ability, they can quickly eliminate these external structures, achieving at least 50% damage without being interrupted by defensive fire. This combination is especially effective when targeting buildings like Army Camps and Collectors that may be less fortified against air attacks.

The strategy for deploying Boxer Giants and Beta Minions effectively involves prioritizing the placement of the Boxer Giants first. By deploying them in a way that ensures they immediately engage the defensive structures, you allow the Beta Minions time to start their attack on external structures without being interrupted. The Boxer Giants will handle the defenses, while the Beta Minions can eliminate buildings that are out of range of key air defenses, such as Air Bombs and Archer Towers.

This tactic works especially well when trying to achieve higher percentages of destruction, as Boxer Giants will occupy the defenses long enough for the Beta Minions to deal significant damage to unprotected buildings. Together, the Boxer Giants and Beta Minions create a synergistic combination, with the Boxer Giants tanking damage and the Beta Minions dealing damage from a safe distance, making them an effective team for clearing bases.

Cannon Cart:

The combination of Beta Minions and Cannon Carts creates a balanced attack strategy that leverages both offensive and defensive capabilities. Cannon Carts, with their ability to deal powerful damage to defensive structures, make excellent frontline units for clearing key defenses, such as Cannons, Double Cannons, and Crushers. Their ability to focus on high-priority structures, especially those that can damage air units, complements the role of Beta Minions.

On the other hand, Beta Minions, with their Long Shot ability and high damage output, can target buildings that are less defended or positioned behind the initial layer of defenses. As Cannon Carts deal with more immediate threats like defensive structures, Beta Minions can focus on eliminating external buildings, resource collectors, and other non-defensive structures without interference.

The synergy between the two units lies in their complementary roles: the Cannon Carts provide a solid offensive punch against defenses, while the Beta Minions continue to clear out buildings and achieve higher destruction percentages. This dynamic duo ensures that while the Cannon Carts focus on key defensive structures, the Beta Minions can safely deal with unprotected buildings, giving your attack a balance of power and speed.

By using Cannon Carts to absorb damage from defensive structures and Beta Minions to target outer buildings, you can create a well-rounded offensive strategy that ensures your army is versatile enough to handle a variety of bases, clearing defenses and maximizing destruction effectively.

Night Witch:

The Night Witch pairs exceptionally well with Beta Minions, offering a powerful synergy that combines swarming pressure with long-range offensive capability. The Night Witch has the unique ability to spawn bats, which act as distractions for enemy defenses. These bats can overwhelm defensive structures like Archer Towers, Firecrackers, and Double Cannons, drawing their fire away from the Beta Minions.

As the Beta Minions attack from a distance, the Night Witch’s bats help to prevent defensive units from targeting the Minions, giving them more time to focus on dealing with damage. The bats can also help to draw attention away from more fragile support troops or other units, allowing your Beta Minions to focus on eliminating key defenses and buildings.

Additionally, the Night Witch’s presence on the battlefield increases the overall pressure on the opponent. As the bats swarm defenses, the Beta Minions can capitalize on the distraction, dealing significant damage to outer buildings, resource collectors, and even defensive structures that might otherwise target them.

When paired together, the Night Witch and Beta Minions create a dual threat: the bats provide constant pressure and tanking for the Beta Minions, while the Minions can deal damage from a safe distance. This combination of distraction and long-range firepower is an effective way to overwhelm defenses and achieve high damage, particularly when attacking bases that rely heavily on ground-targeting defenses.

Electro Fire Wizard:

The Electro Fire Wizard is a powerful support unit that pairs well with Beta Minions, especially when dealing with tougher or more resilient defensive structures. The Electro Fire Wizard excels at targeting high-hitpoint buildings, air defenses, and other tough defenses that could otherwise pose a threat to Beta Minions.

With its long-range attack that deals splash damage, the Electro Fire Wizard can eliminate or significantly weaken high-hitpoint buildings like Army Camps or defensive structures such as Air Bombs or Air Defenses, which might otherwise disrupt the Beta Minions’ attacks. This allows the Beta Minions to focus on attacking less protected buildings without worrying about being distracted or taken out by enemy defenses.

Additionally, the Electro Fire Wizard’s attack can disable certain defenses, making it easier for the Beta Minions to continue their assault on external buildings. The Electro Fire Wizard can also help clear out clusters of enemy troops that could pose a threat to the Minions, ensuring that the Beta Minions can target buildings with minimal interference.

By using the Electro Fire Wizard in combination with Beta Minions, you create a balanced attack strategy that blends damage-dealing power with defense-neutralizing abilities. The synergy between the two troops ensures that the Beta Minions can focus on attacking weaker structures while the Electro Fire Wizard handles the high-priority threats, ultimately helping to increase overall damage and effectiveness in battle.

Raged Barbarian:

Pairing Beta Minions with Raged Barbarians creates a dynamic offensive strategy that combines high damage output and fast mobility. The Raged Barbarians, known for their high DPS (damage per second) and speed, can rapidly clear out enemy-defending troops and buildings, while the Beta Minions target key defensive structures from a distance.

The Raged Barbarians excel at dealing with ground-based defenses and enemy troops that may interfere with the Beta Minions’ focus on buildings. They can quickly clear out threats like Zappies, Guard Post troops, or other defensive units, ensuring that the Beta Minions can continue their attack without being distracted or neutralized.

Meanwhile, the Beta Minions use their long-range abilities to target and take out structures, especially those that are not well-defended by air-targeting defenses. The Raged Barbarians will effectively tank damage, draw attention from enemy ground defenses, and disrupt any counterattacks, all while moving swiftly through the base.

This combination of fast-moving, high-DPS ground troops and ranged, high-damage air units creates a well-rounded offensive force that can adapt to various base layouts. It allows players to apply pressure on multiple fronts and achieve high damage output while minimizing the risk of the Beta Minions being overwhelmed by enemy defenses or troops. By deploying the Raged Barbarians and Beta Minions strategically, players can increase their chances of achieving 50% or more damage and clear the base efficiently.
