Overview Genshin Impact Azurelight
Genshin Impact’s universe reflects the metaphysical forces present in other HoYoverse titles—namely Imaginary and Quantum power—mapped metaphorically as realms of Light and Dark. These concepts underpin key events in Teyvat’s history, from the fall of Khaenri’ah to the rise of the Abyss Order.
Imaginary Power (Creation & Light)
- Source: The Imaginary Tree, which spawns universes on its leaves.
- Color: Gold.
- In-Game Representations: The Traveler’s energy, Khemia (Albedo’s alchemy), Light Realm (Three Realms event).
- Implications: Possibly the primordial element. Suspected cause of Celestia’s fear and the fall of Khaenri’ah.
Quantum Power (Decay & Abyss)
- Source: Sea of Quanta, where failed universes dissolve.
- Color: Dark blue.
- In-Game Representations: Abyss Order energy, Marana’s essence, Dainsleif’s aura, Rifthounds.
- Implications: Tied to destruction, corruption, and the Cataclysm. Influences machinery like Ruin enemies.
Antimatter Fusion
The Doomsday Beast is the only known entity that utilizes both Imaginary and Quantum energy. Its destructive capacity ties the narrative back to Honkai Star Rail’s higher-dimensional threats.
The Traveler and the Sibling: Fate and Fracture
Origins
The Traveler and their twin arrived in Teyvat via interstellar travel, using cryo-hibernation pods and carrying keys to each other’s chambers. Paimon, curiously, was aware of their arrival beforehand.
The Sibling’s Path
- Amnesia in Khaenri’ah: The sibling forgot their origin and was crowned heir by King Irmin to absorb limitless Abyssal energy.
- Escape During the Cataclysm: Chose to save the Traveler rather than defend Khaenri’ah.
- Separation: The Unknown God intercepted them; the Traveler slept for 500 more years while the sibling joined the Abyss.
The Loom of Fate Project
The Sibling, as the Abyss Prince/Princess, is now reconstructing Khaenri’ah using a new Ley Line network. The Atlas of the New World maps this system, meant to rival Teyvat’s existing one.
- Power Source: Memories extracted from Abyss members via meditation.
- Goal: Build a new Khaenri’ah and confront the Heavenly Principles on equal footing.
Istaroth’s Role
The Shade of Time may have manipulated events to lead the Sibling toward their destiny, influencing timelines and guiding Direidyth to deliver the hibernation key.

Additional Lore and Theories
Dragons and the Aeon Long
All dragons in Teyvat may descend from Long, a cosmic Aeon of Permanence, paralleling Honkai: Star Rail’s multiversal dragon lore. Notably:
- Nibelung is theorized to be a Descender-level dragon.
- Phlogiston, a dragon-fueled material in Natlan, reacts dangerously with Abyssal energy.
Seelies and Nicole
- Seelies: Thought to be fallen angels punished for favoritism.
- Nicole (“N”): A mute Seelie and Hexenzirkel member, guides travelers telepathically.
Time Loops and Mavuika
Mavuika, the Pyro Archon, is suspected to be stuck in a temporal reset loop, reliving Natlan’s downfall repeatedly. Visual storytelling in her animations and cryptic dialogue alludes to countless failed timelines.
Fate, Irminsul, and the Primordial One
- Fate: Controls all events; recorded by Irminsul.
- Descenders: Like the Traveler, can alter fated outcomes.
- Primordial One Theory: Suggests the Traveler and Sibling may be fragments or reincarnations of the universe’s original deity, now scattered and forgotten post-Cataclysm.
