| Grow a Garden Gorilla Chef Passive | As long as players have a Cooking Pot or Cooking Cauldron in player garden: The Gorilla cooks in it and grants 5-10% to duplicate food on cook! |
The Gorilla Chef is a highly sought-after Legendary pet in Roblox: Grow a Garden, known for its ability to duplicate cooked food.

It was added to the game on August 9th, 2025, in update 1.18.0, as part of the Kitchen Storm update and the second part of the Cooking Event. It resembles a real-life gorilla, wearing a cooking outfit and wielding a wooden spoon.
How to Get Grow a Garden Gorilla Chef
Grow a Garden Gorilla Chef is event-exclusive and can only be obtained during the Kitchen Storm Cooking Event. You cannot find it in the wild or through regular farming.

To get it, you must interact with the Rat Connoisseur NPC. This NPC is a giant rat wearing a suit, top hat, and mustache, found near the cooking pot in the middle of the map.

The Rat Connoisseur only accepts mutated food items. First, harvest fruits with any mutations from your garden. Then, go to the big pot in the center of the map, toss the mutated fruits in, and hit the green “Cook” button.
A “Lucky Cook” notification will appear if your meal receives a mutation, meaning it obtained the same mutation as the submitted fruits.
Equip the mutated meal from your inventory, go to the Rat Connoisseur, and select the “Try this food I cooked up” dialogue prompt. The NPC will display three random reward options.

The Gorilla Chef has a 5% drop rate. This means it’s not a guaranteed drop, and you may need to submit mutated meals multiple times.
Grow a Garden Gorilla Chef: Passive Ability
The Gorilla Chef’s passive ability is called “King Cook”. It grants a chance to duplicate food on cook.

This ability functions as long as you have a Cooking Pot or Cooking Cauldron equipped in your garden. The Cooking Cauldron is often more accessible as a common reward from the Food Connoisseur NPC.
The chance to duplicate food ranges from 5% to 10%. For example, an Age 1 Gorilla Chef provides approximately a 5.2% chance, while an Age 100 Gorilla Chef can offer about a 6.57% chance. This pet is valuable for quickly getting all available rewards from the Chris P. and Rat Connoisseur NPCs.
Optimizing Gorilla Chef Usage
To maximize the benefits of your Grow a Garden Gorilla Chef, consider Multiple Gorilla Chefs: Having multiple Gorilla Chefs is believed to increase your chances of duplicating food. Some players aim for a team of eight Gorilla Chefs for optimal results, as it increases the overall success rate even if individual cooks fail.

It’s advisable to keep your Gorilla Chefs, especially if you have around eight of them, as there’s a possibility the cooking feature could become a permanent addition to the game. If the cooking feature becomes permanent, these pets will be highly valuable.
