Marvel Strike Force Havok abilities make him a potent threat in both offense and defense.

His Basic – Plasma Punch allows him to flip two random negative effects on himself, attack the primary target for 280% damage, and apply Slow to an adjacent target, also for 280% damage.

Special – Energy Upheaval, attacks the primary target for 350% damage, applies Stun (2 turns) and Trauma (1 turn). Hits an adjacent target for 280% damage, applies Heal Block (2 turns), and stacks Trauma (up to 3 turns). In Crucible Defense, it ignores Taunt and Stealth, targets a random Charged Controller instead, and can’t be blocked or countered.

Ultimate – Localized Catastrophe, deals 400% Piercing damage to the primary target and applies Defense Down (2 turns). If the target is killed, Havok gives Safeguard to himself and all Starjammer/X-Men allies, and extends Defense Down on enemies with Barrier. Ignores Defense Up and does +100% damage if the target has Barrier.

Passive – Magistrate Summers, when an enemy attacks Havok or a Starjammer/X-Men ally, a counterattack deals 200% unavoidable Piercing damage. If the enemy has Barrier, damage is increased by 50%. On the enemy’s turn, if they have Barrier and Havok has 2+ Starjammer/X-Men allies, he applies Disrupted up to 3 times. Enemies with Barrier can’t gain Immunity, and their damage mitigation is reduced by 25%. In Crucible, Havok and Starjammer allies gain 5% Speed per enemy with Barrier (max 50%).

Iso-8

Havok’s ability to deal significant single-target damage and strike multiple enemies with his abilities makes him versatile in terms of Iso-8 class selection. He can be effectively assigned either the Striker or Raider Iso-8 Class, depending on the desired playstyle.

As a Striker, Havok benefits from increased damage output on his attacks, enhancing his overall offensive capabilities. However, the Raider class offers an edge when it comes to passive damage, particularly when counterattacking. When assigned the Raider class, Havok deals slightly more damage when countering attacks against him or his Starjammer and X-Men allies, making him more effective in long-term engagements.

To fully capitalize on passive damage, it is optimal to equip both Havok and other key allies, such as Howard the Duck, with the Raider Iso-8 Class. This combination maximizes their passive damage output, enhancing the team’s overall effectiveness in battle.

Team Synergy

Havok has strong synergies with the Starjammers and X-Men teams, making him a valuable asset when paired with these groups. For his full potential, the Starjammers are essential, as they unlock more from his abilities. His synergies with the X-Men are also significant, as several of his abilities extend to X-Men allies, enhancing team effectiveness.

One of Havok's key strengths is his passive ability, which allows him to counterattack whenever an enemy targets him or any Starjammer or X-Men ally. His ultimate ability further supports team cohesion; upon defeating an enemy, he grants Safeguard to himself, all Starjammer allies, and all X-Men allies, providing protection for the team. In Crucible, Havok and all Starjammer allies gain a +5% Speed boost for each enemy with a Barrier, up to a maximum of +50% Speed, which can be crucial in fast-paced battles.

To maximize Havok's effectiveness, it is best to pair him with the Starjammers, while also considering the inclusion of X-Men allies where their synergy with Havok's kit can be fully utilized.

T4 Prioritization

Recommended T4 order: Passive > Special > Ultimate > Basic.

When prioritizing T4 materials for Havok, the following abilities should be upgraded to maximize his effectiveness:

Passive – Magistrate Summers, the Passive should be the first focus. Upgrading it increases Piercing damage on counterattacks from 100% to 200%. This effectively doubles Havok’s damage when enemies target him or his allies, making his passive counterattacks far more impactful—especially in extended fights.

Special – Energy Upheaval, the Special upgrade boosts overall damage and allows Trauma to be applied to each target. Since the ability hits both primary and adjacent enemies, this lets Havok stack multiple instances of Trauma—two on the main target and one on adjacent foes—disrupting the enemy team significantly.

Ultimate – Localized Catastrophe, finally, the Ultimate upgrade improves Piercing damage and extends Defense Down to two turns instead of one. If Havok defeats the target, he grants Safeguard for two turns to himself and all Starjammer and X-Men allies. This increases survivability and makes the Ultimate more rewarding when used as a finishing move.

Basic – Focused Fire, the Basic ability upgrade is the lowest priority. The T4 investment increases the damage slightly, but it doesn't add any new effects or utility. Since Havok’s power lies in his Special, Ultimate, and Passive, upgrading the Basic offers minimal impact in most situations.

Key Mechanics

Havok’s key mechanics in Marvel Strike Force make him a powerful asset in various battles, particularly in modes like Cosmic Crucible. His Barrier Counter abilities are central to his effectiveness. He reduces damage mitigation for all enemies with Barrier and prevents them from gaining Immunity. His Ultimate ability also ignores Defense Up and gains +100% Damage against enemies with Barrier. Additionally, he passively applies +1 Disrupted to enemies with Barrier on their turn, further hindering their ability to act. In Crucible, Havok’s Passive grants Starjammer characters +5% Speed for each enemy with Barrier, up to a maximum of +50%, providing a significant speed boost to his team.

Havok also excels at applying Debuff Combos, such as Stun + Trauma and Heal Block + Trauma, making him highly effective at disrupting enemy teams. His Speed Boost in Crucible, where he and all Starjammer allies gain +5% Speed for each enemy with a Barrier, further enhances his team's performance, particularly in fast-paced matches.

These mechanics make Havok a valuable asset, especially in Cosmic Crucible, where his ability to control the flow of combat and disrupt enemy strategies can significantly shift the balance in his team's favor.

Usage and Strategy

Havok is a versatile character whose strength depends on team composition and game mode, with his best performance seen in Cosmic Crucible. He works well in both offensive and defensive strategies, offering strong damage, control, and disruption. His synergy with the Starjammer team is crucial to unlocking his full potential.

Offensively, Havok excels at eliminating key enemies with high single-target and AoE damage. His abilities counter Barrier-heavy teams by applying Stun, Trauma, and Heal Block, disrupting enemy defenses. Speed boosts from enemies with Barrier also give him and his allies an early edge, letting them strike first and control the pace of battle.

Defensively, Havok’s passive counterattacks and debuffs punish enemies who target him or his allies. In Crucible, he gains extra utility by targeting random Charged Controllers while ignoring Taunt and Stealth ideal against teams like Illuminati. His ability to break Barrier synergy and apply key debuffs makes him a strong choice for Crucible defense.

Strengths

Havok is a powerful Blaster in Marvel Strike Force, known for high single-target and AoE damage. He performs well across game modes but is especially effective in Cosmic Crucible, where his abilities can shift the momentum of battle. His strength lies in versatility using strong debuff combinations like Stun + Trauma and Heal Block + Trauma to control the field, while punishing enemies through passive counterattacks.

His synergies with Starjammers and X-Men further boost his value. Havok excels against Barrier-reliant teams, reducing their mitigation, blocking Immunity, and applying Disrupted passively. His Ultimate gains +100% damage and ignores Defense Up if the enemy has Barrier. In Crucible, his Passive gives +5% Speed per enemy with Barrier (up to 50%) to all Starjammer allies, giving his team a critical speed advantage. These traits make him a disruptive force and a top-tier pick for Crucible matches.

Potential Counters

While Havok and the Starjammers are a strong team in Marvel Strike Force, they do have key counters. Characters who prevent revives like Apocalypse or Mephisto can stop Groot from reviving, weakening the team’s sustain. Teams that block or delay turns, such as those with Howard the Duck, can also disrupt the Starjammers’ speed-based strategies by blocking passive Speed boosts.

Enemies who remove positive effects or counter key mechanics also pose a threat. Lilandra, for example, can remove Vulnerable, limiting the Starjammers’ impact in Crucible Defense. Additionally, Cosmic Protectors with Taunt can stall their attacks unless Lilandra is present to block the Taunt. Knowing these counters helps players plan effectively against Havok and the Starjammers.

Higher Red Stars significantly improve Havok’s damage, survivability, and overall effectiveness in both offense and defense. Additionally, investing 2 Diamonds will further boost his core stats, enhancing his performance in tougher game modes.

To get the most value, time your investments around Havok’s availability. Once he's farmable, free-to-play players can work toward 7 Yellow/Red Stars, making Diamonds even more worthwhile.
