The Corrupted Update in Grow a Garden, released on July 26, 2025, introduced new pets, seeds, and several new Mutations that significantly increase the selling value of crops. One of the newly released mutations is the Corrupt Mutation.
Crops affected by the Corrupt Mutation have a red lightning effect around them and often drop red and grey particles. The fruit also appears off-color with red sparks and smoke. This mutation increases a crop’s sale value by a 20x multiplier.
How to Obtain Grow a Garden Corrupt Mutation
Corrupted Aura
This weather event has a chance to replace the Zen Aura event every hour and lasts for ten minutes.
During this event, red balls of light shoot from the Corrupted Zen area in the middle of the map and apply the Corrupt mutation to fruits in your garden.
The amount of Corrupted Zen balls that mutate your fruit depends on how much you have grown your corrupted tree by giving the Corrupted Channeler what he requests each hour.
By completing quests for the Corrupt Channeler NPC, the Corrupt Tree grows bigger, which in turn applies the Grow a Garden Corrupt Mutation to your crops.
The Corrupt Channeler typically asks for tranquil plants. Rewards from these quests can include Corrupt Staff and Corrupt Mutation Spray.
Corrupted Kodama
It offers a 4.22% chance that Zen-type fruit gets theGrow a Garden Corrupt Mutation after collection.
This Legendary pet can be obtained as a drop reward by giving Corrupted Fruits or Crops to the Corrupted Channeler (4.35% chance).
Mutation Spray Corrupt
Also obtained as a reward from the Corrupt Channeler (8.7% chance). These sprays can be used once each to apply the Corrupt mutation to crops.
Pet Shard Corrupted
Purchaseable from the Zen Shop for 350 Chi or 289 Robux. Using this shard applies the Grow a Garden Corrupt Mutation to a pet of your choice, turning it red and granting it the ability to apply the Corrupt mutation to a fruit every 24.45 minutes.
You can also attempt to get the Grow a Garden Corrupt Mutation using the Pet Mutation machine, though there is only a 3.02% chance of success.
Grow a Garden Corrupt Mutation: Corrupted Crops
Corrupted crops are essential for progressing in the new Zen content and for obtaining new rewards. Specifically:
Trading to Kitsune
Corrupt Fruits can be traded to the Kitsune NPC located in the center of the map.
To receive a Kitsune Chest as a reward, you must trade in an equal amount of both Tranquil and Corrupt fruits to fill the circles on either side of the Kitsune. Sources suggest you need to submit either five of each or six of each.
The Kitsune Chest can contain a variety of items, including;
- Maneki-Neko pet (34.5% odds)
- Dezen seed (34.5% odds)
- Kodama pet (14.5% odds)
- Lucky Bamboo seed (14.5% odds)
- Corrupted Kitsune pet (1% odds)
- Tranquil Bloom seed (1% odds).
