The Connoisseur Food Reviews feature in Roblox: Grow a Garden involves a new NPC, the Rat Connoisseur, who evaluates mutated food dishes and provides rewards.

Grow a Garden Connoisseur Food Reviews

Grow a Garden Connoisseur Food Reviews was introduced as part of the Kitchen Storm Update, an expansion of the Cooking event, released on August 9, 2025.

The Rat Connoisseur NPC

The Food Connoisseur is a rat NPC located next to the Cooking Pot at the center of the map. He appears as a giant rat wearing a suit and top hat with a mustache.

Unlike Chris P., who accepts any cooked food, the Rat Connoisseur exclusively accepts mutated food items. He reviews your food, and based on its quality (specifically, the presence of mutations), he offers various rewards.

How to Participate in Grow a Garden Connoisseur Food Reviews

The first step is to acquire plants with mutations. The more mutations your crops have, or the rarer those mutations are, the higher the chance that the final cooked food will also be mutated.

Place your mutated harvests into the Cooking Pot. A dial or meter above the cooking pot indicates the chance of mutation carrying over to the final food item.

If this needle reaches 60% or above, the mutation is likely to be applied. Other players state that if the meter is above 80%, mutation carryover is guaranteed. The more mutated ingredients you use, the greater the chance of getting mutated food.

The specific type of recipe or food you make does not matter to the Rat Connoisseur, only that it is mutated. You can give him even a basic soup, as long as it has a mutation.

Once your mutated meal is cooked, hold the food item. Approach the Rat Connoisseur and interact with him (e.g., press ‘E’ key). Select the option “Try this food I cooked up!”. He will review the food.

After submitting the mutated food, you will be presented with a selection screen offering three possible rewards chosen at random from his reward pool. You then choose one reward from the given options.

Benefits and Tips for Getting Mutated Food

Cooking during the Kitchen Storm event significantly increases your chances of getting mutated food items. The Kitchen Storm event is triggered by submitting food to the Chris P. NPC at the center of the map.

Different food rarities grant different points (e.g., Common x2, Transcendent x9). The event starts when the meter reaches 40 points.

During a Kitchen Storm, your cooking speed doubles, and you have an increased chance of getting mutations for your food items.

It also grants the Aromatic mutation to crops in your garden. The storm can be leveled up to four times by submitting more food, each stage further boosting cooking speed.

    Gorilla Chef

Using the Gorilla Chef pet in your garden, in conjunction with a Cooking Pot cosmetic item, can increase the chances of duplicating your food items.

The Gorilla Chef grants a 5% chance to duplicate food on cook if a cooking pot/cauldron is in your garden.

This item allows you to apply the Aromatic mutation to a pet.

A pet with the Aromatic mutation can infuse nearby fruit with a pungent aroma, applying the Aromatic mutation to it every 25 minutes.
