Age of Empires Mobile has officially launched globally on the App Store and Google Play, bringing a fresh and mobile-optimized experience to fans of the iconic strategy series. Co-developed by TiMi Studio Group, known for Call of Duty: Mobile and Pokémon Unite, alongside World’s Edge, an Xbox Games Studio, the game offers a unique spin on the classic Age of Empires formula with features tailored specifically for mobile players. The collaboration between these development teams aims to capture the essence of the original games while adding new gameplay elements that make it more accessible and exciting for mobile gamers.
The game is built from the ground up with mobile and social play in mind, offering a variety of features designed to engage both casual and hardcore players. One of the core aspects of Age of Empires Mobile is its strategic depth, allowing players to craft their own approaches to combat by selecting from a wide range of civilizations, heroes, and troops. With hundreds of possible combinations, players can create their most effective battle plan and lead their forces into battle.
Massively multiplayer online (MMO) gameplay is a major focus in Age of Empires Mobile, particularly in its Siege mode. This large-scale alliance-versus-alliance mode involves massive castle sieges where hundreds of players can fight simultaneously, controlling thousands of units on the battlefield. Authentic medieval weapons, complex defenses, and real-time control of troops bring intense and engaging battles to life. Players are encouraged to form alliances and coordinate with others to dominate their enemies, making social interaction a key component of the gameplay.

Expanding on the series’ legacy, Age of Empires Mobile allows players to command some of history’s most legendary figures. From Joan of Arc leading her troops into battle to Leonidas I defending his empire, the game offers a wide range of historic leaders, each with distinct abilities that can change the tide of war. These leaders are designed to work in synergy with one another, allowing players to create unique combinations that suit their battle strategies.
Earnest Yuen, Senior Director of Production from World’s Edge, emphasizes the immersive experience the game provides. “Age of Empires Mobile introduces a new entry point for mobile gamers with its alliance-driven gameplay and massive siege battles,” Yuen explained. “Your empire feels so dynamic—water laps the shores, wind blows through the trees—it really feels alive as you grow your empire.”
