Deep beneath the Arena, where bones rattle and shadows stir, rises a ruler unlike any other — the Clash Royale Skeleton King! As one of the powerful Champions, this bone-clad monarch leads an army of the undead with dark magic and overwhelming force. Armed with a massive mace and the ability to summon fallen skeletons back to battle, the Skeleton King grows stronger with every troop that perishes nearby.
He’s not just a tank — he’s a force of resurrection. With each soul collected, he charges his unique ability: Soul Summoning, calling forth a swarm of Skeletons to overwhelm your enemies at just the right moment.
When the Skeleton King steps onto the battlefield, beware — death is just the beginning.

Soul Summoning
Skeleton King Ability
The Skeleton King possesses a unique ability called Soul Summoning, which can be activated from the rightmost side of the screen, just above your card deck during battle. Once activated, there’s a brief 1-second delay, after which the Skeleton King pauses momentarily and begins summoning Skeletons in a 4-tile radius around him.
The Skeletons appear one at a time, spawning at random positions within the circle every 0.25 seconds. The number of Skeletons summoned depends on how many troops (from either player) have been defeated while the Skeleton King is on the battlefield. This soul-gathering mechanic continues even if the Skeleton King dies.
For every troop that falls while he’s deployed, the Skeleton King collects a soul. These souls are used to power his ability, increasing the number of Skeletons summoned. At base, with no souls, he summons 6 Skeletons. With the maximum of 10 souls, he can summon up to 16 Skeletons.
You can track the number of souls collected via the blue bar above his health bar. Once activated, the ability enters a 20-second cooldown after its effect ends, and it requires 2 Elixir to use.

Deck
Skelly Swarm (Graveyard Control)
Utilize the Skeleton King’s ability to collect souls and summon Skeletons, synergizing with Graveyard for overwhelming pressure. Earthquake helps eliminate enemy swarms, while Phoenix and Ice Wizard provide support and control.
PEKKA Skeleton King Deck
Deploy PEKKA as a tank and damage dealer, supported by Skeleton King to summon additional Skeletons. Use spells like Fireball and The Log for crowd control and to eliminate enemy swarms.
Skeleton King Spell Bait
Apply constant pressure with multiple bait units, forcing opponents to use their spells inefficiently. Skeleton King capitalizes on the collected souls to summon additional Skeletons, overwhelming the enemy.
Skeleton King Hog Rider Deck
Combine Hog Rider’s fast-paced attacks with Skeleton King’s ability to summon Skeletons, creating dual threats. Valkyrie and Firecracker provide support and defense against enemy swarms.
Skeleton King Mini P.E.K.K.A Deck
Utilize Sparky and Mini P.E.K.K.A for heavy damage, supported by Skeleton King to summon additional Skeletons. Rage boosts the attack speed of your units, overwhelming opponents quickly.
Strategy

The Skeleton King is a Champion tank with a powerful swarm ability. While not the fastest or strongest in direct combat, he thrives in chaotic fights where troops are constantly dying, letting him build souls and unleash a devastating Soul Summoning.
Best Ways to Use Skeleton King
1. As a Counter-Push Beast
- Play him on defense to absorb hits and collect souls from dying enemy troops.
- After defending, use Soul Summoning to build a strong counter-push with a fresh Skeleton swarm and support troops.
2. Graveyard Synergy
- Combine with Graveyard for overwhelming pressure.
- While the Graveyard spawns Skeletons, the Skeleton King collects souls to fuel his own army, making it hard for opponents to defend both threats.
3. Bait Decks
- Use him in spell bait decks alongside cards like Goblin Barrel, Skeleton Barrel, or Rascals.
- Once your opponent uses their spell, drop Skeleton King and activate his ability to overwhelm them when they’re least prepared.
4. Tank and Distract
- He has decent health, making him a solid mini-tank.
- Drop him in front of glass cannon troops like Magic Archer or Musketeer to protect them while collecting souls.
Tips

- Wait before activating his ability. Let him collect at least a few souls first — ideally 6–10 — to make the summon worthwhile.
- Use Soul Summoning when distracted: Trigger it when enemy troops or towers are focused elsewhere so the Skeletons get more value.
- Pair with Tombstone or Skeleton Army — easy ways to feed him souls without sacrificing high-cost cards.
- Mirror and 3-Card Cycle Advantage: As a Champion, Skeleton King allows faster cycling of cards — perfect for decks that rely on fast pressure.
Watch Out For
- Splash Damage: Cards like Valkyrie, Baby Dragon, or Executioner can wipe out his summoned Skeletons fast.
- Low Soul Count: Activating his ability too early or without many souls makes it easy to waste 2 Elixir for little value.
- Single-Target DPS Units: He can be kited or melted by Mini P.E.K.K.A or Lumberjack if left unsupported.
Strength and Weakness
Strengths

- Soul Summoning = Swarm Power
- His ability allows you to summon a large number of Skeletons, creating sudden pressure and overwhelming defenses, especially when timed right.
- Excellent in Counter-Pushes
- After defending, he can immediately launch a strong counterattack with his ability and leftover support troops.
- Synergizes With Swarm Decks
- Works extremely well with cards like Tombstone, Skeleton Army, and Graveyard, collecting souls rapidly for a big payoff.
- Champion Cycle Bonus
- As a Champion, his presence allows faster 3-card cycles, improving elixir rotation and synergy with control or bait strategies.
- Elixir-Efficient Mini-Tank
- At just 4 Elixir, he offers solid health and decent DPS, making him a great value card when used smartly.
- Versatile Role
- Can act as a tank, a support unit, or a win condition depending on your deck and timing.
Weaknesses
- Weak Without Souls
- His ability is underwhelming if you activate it with few or no souls. Timing is crucial to extract full value.
- Vulnerable to Splash Damage
- His summoned Skeletons get destroyed easily by cards like Valkyrie, Wizard, Baby Dragon, Bomb Tower, or Executioner.
- Slow Movement
- His slow speed makes it hard to build fast pushes or react quickly on defense unless pre-positioned.
- Single Lane Pressure
- Unlike cycle or split-lane decks, the Skeleton King’s strength relies on building up in one lane, which can be predictable and easier to counter.
- Ability Delay & Cost
- There’s a 1-second delay before Soul Summoning activates, and it costs 2 Elixir — so bad timing can lead to wasted Elixir and a missed opportunity.
- Struggles vs. High-DPS Units
- Cards like Mini P.E.K.K.A, Lumberjack, or Prince can take him down quickly, especially if he’s unsupported.
Counters

Top Hard Counters
- Valkyrie
- Her 360° spinning splash attack instantly shreds the summoned Skeletons, even in large numbers.
- Strong body-to-body counter to the Skeleton King himself.
- Wizard
- High splash damage with fast hit speed can clear out both the Skeleton King and his Skeletons if positioned safely.
- Executioner + Tornado
- Executioner’s axe and Tornado combo can wipe out the King and his swarm, even behind tanks.
- Bomb Tower
- The bomb’s radius and splash make it one of the best building counters to Skeleton King pushes.
- Baby Dragon
- Air splash damage ignores the Skeletons’ distraction and consistently melts swarms from above.
- Fireball or Poison
- Use to pre-empt or react to Soul Summoning activation.
- Poison lingers, making it especially effective when paired with Tornado.
- Mini P.E.K.K.A
- High DPS can take down the Skeleton King himself quickly before he gets a chance to use his ability.
Counter Strategies
1. Denial Before He Charges Souls
- Don’t feed him value. Use ranged troops or avoid giving him deaths near his position.
- Space out your units to limit his soul collection potential.
2. Wait for Soul Summoning – Then Respond
- Let him activate Soul Summoning, then respond with splash (Valk, Fireball, Wizard).
- Most of his power comes from the summoned Skeletons, not his base stats.
3. Air Units Are Untouchable
- He and his Skeletons can’t touch air — Minions, Mega Minion, Baby Dragon, and Inferno Dragon work great if your deck is light on splash.
4. Distraction & Kiting
- Use Ice Spirit, Skeletons, or pull him with buildings like Cannon or Tesla to waste his push momentum and isolate him from your tower.
Frequently Asked Questions (F.A.Q)
❓ Can Skeleton King collect souls after he dies?
No — soul collection stops the moment the Skeleton King is defeated. Souls gathered before he dies still count if his ability was activated before his death.
❓ Is Skeleton King good without souls?
He’s much weaker without souls. His ability becomes low-value if not enough troops have died. It’s best to use him mid-to-late in a push to build up soul count.
❓ Can he be used in all game modes?
Yes, as long as Champions are allowed in that mode. This includes ladder, tournament battles, and some challenges or special events.
❓ What’s the best synergy for Skeleton King?
He works best with Graveyard, Tombstone, Skeleton Army, and spell bait cards. These help generate troop deaths for soul collection.
❓ How do I counter Skeleton King effectively?
Use splash-damage troops like Valkyrie, Wizard, Baby Dragon, or Executioner. Spells like Fireball and Poison are also strong counters to his summoned Skeletons.
