The Sunny-Side Chicken is a special Uncommon pet in Roblox: Grow a Garden, added on August 9th, 2025, in update 1.18.0.
It’s highly sought after by players who want to optimize their farming and hatching efficiency due to its useful passive ability. It has a classic chicken look with a white body, orange feet, a beak, and an egg draped on its head.
How to Get Grow a Garden Sunny-Side Chicken
Grow a Garden Sunny-Side Chicken is event-exclusive and can only be obtained during the Kitchen Storm Cooking Event. You cannot find it in the wild or through regular farming.
To get it, you must interact with the Rat Connoisseur NPC. This NPC is a giant rat wearing a suit, top hat, and mustache, found near the cooking pot in the middle of the map.
The Rat Connoisseur only accepts mutated food items. First, harvest fruits with any mutations from your garden. Then, go to the big pot in the center of the map, toss the mutated fruits in, and hit the green “Cook” button.
A “Lucky Cook” notification will appear if your meal receives a mutation, meaning it obtained the same mutation as the submitted fruits.
Equip the mutated meal from your inventory, go to the Rat Connoisseur, and select the “Try this food I cooked up” dialogue prompt. The NPC will display three random reward options.
The Sunny-Side Chicken has a 30% drop rate. This means it’s not a guaranteed drop, and you may need to submit mutated meals multiple times.
Grow a Garden Sunny-Side Chicken: Passive Ability
The Sunny-Side Chicken’s passive ability is called “Better Eggcelerator”. It increases egg hatch speed by 20% or more.
This makes it perfect for players focused on collecting pets or speeding up breeding cycles. For example, a 5-hour, 7-minute Mythical egg could hatch in about 4 hours and 5 minutes with this pet.
Optimizing Egg Hatching
A team of eight Sunny-Side Chickens at base level (level 1) can increase egg hatch speed by 160% (8 x 20%). This can reduce a 4-hour egg to just over 1 hour. Leveling your Sunny-Side Chickens to Age 100 further increases their individual hatch speed.
At Age 100, the individual boost can range from 21% to 24%. A team of eight Age 100 chickens could provide an average of 184% hatch speed (8 x 23%).
Mutating your pets with the Rainbow mutation makes their passive abilities even stronger. A team of eight Age 100 Rainbow-mutated Sunny-Side Chickens can offer individual increases of 27-28%. This totals to a 225% increase in hatch time (8 x 28% average).
