Stardew Valley Fair Guide

Stardew Valley Fair

The Stardew Valley Fair is an annual festival held on Tuesday, the 16th of Fall. To attend, the player must enter Pelican Town between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Upon leaving the event, the player will automatically return to The Farm at 10:00 PM. On the day of the festival, Pelican Town is inaccessible until 9:00 AM, and all homes and shops outside the town square remain locked before, during, and after the event.

Throughout the fair, players can participate in mini-games to earn Star Tokens, a special currency used to purchase prizes from the Shop near the Bus Stop entrance. Players can hold up to 9,999 Star Tokens at once. Each fixed stock item in the shop can only be purchased once per year. The total Star Tokens required to buy all items is 4,900—or 2,900 if the Stardrop has already been purchased.

The shop’s stock refreshes annually, except for the Stardrop, which can only be bought once. Star Tokens do not carry over between years, but players can replay mini-games to earn more.

A key attraction of the fair is the Grange Display contest, where players can showcase items from their farm to win additional Star Tokens. Once judging is complete, speak with Mayor Lewis. Displayed items can be collected afterward, though they won’t automatically return to your inventory.

If left behind, as of version 1.5, they can be recovered from the Lost and Found. In odd-numbered years, Gus can be found north of the fairgrounds near the fountains, cooking Survival Burgers that restore energy—though the effect becomes apparent only after leaving the fair. In even-numbered years, Gus relocates to the east side below 1 River Road.

The fair concludes when the player exits Pelican Town.

Fortune Teller Booth
Fortune Teller Booth Gold Icon100g Each year at the Fortune Teller Booth, Welwick the Fortune Teller will tell the player events from the future for Gold.png100g. She will tell the player something about whichever two villagers are at the top of their Social menu, as well as something about whichever skill the player has the highest level in.

If the player has already paid to have their fortune read that year, she will say “I’ve already read your fortune… go away.”
pinning Wheel
Spinning Wheel Gold IconVaries At the Spinning Wheel, the player can bet Star Tokens on whether the spinner will land on green or orange.

When the spinner falls below a certain speed, if it would cause the spinner to land on the losing color, there is a chance for it to set its speed to a higher speed, proportional to the player’s Luck. This chance is equal to Luck / 15 if the player chose Green, or Luck / 20 if the player chose Orange.[1] As the player cannot eat or drink in the festival (other than Gus’s Survival Burgers), the player would need to use any Luck-improving consumables before entering the festival in order to maximize the chance of winning.

With no Luck modifiers, the Wheel is 2.75 times more likely to land on Green than Orange.[2] By taking advantage of this, players can quickly earn the star tokens required to purchase all items in the shop. For maximum expected profit while protecting against losses, the player should always bet 46.7% of their current stars on Green.[3]

Grange Display

To enter the showcase, players can select up to nine items for the Grange Display that best highlight their skills. The display is judged based on both the quality and variety of the items, and rewards are given in the form of Star Tokens depending on the ranking received. All items can be collected once judging is finished.

In multiplayer mode, the Grange Display is shared among all players on the farm. Only one player can interact with the display at a time—others must wait if someone is adding or removing items. Once the host is satisfied with the arrangement, they can speak to Mayor Lewis to begin the judging process. Mayor Lewis will evaluate the display, and all players will receive the same score and placement. However, each player must individually speak with him afterward to claim their Star Tokens.

After the judging is complete, mini-games at the fair remain available to play.

Tips

Tip #1

To make the most of the Stardew Valley Fair, it’s important to utilize effective strategies for earning Star Tokens and maximizing your chances of winning the Grange Display competition. The fair offers a variety of activities, so planning ahead and making strategic decisions can help you earn more tokens and secure valuable rewards.

Tip #2

Grange Display Strategies are key to earning high scores and maximizing Star Tokens. To begin with, always aim to enter nine items in your display to earn the full 9-point bonus for quantity. Even if some of the items are of low quality, filling all nine slots is beneficial because leaving empty spots will significantly reduce your score. Make sure to include items from at least six different categories to achieve the maximum 30-point bonus for category variety. These categories include Animal Products, Artisan Goods, Cooking, Fish, Foraging/Flowers/Tree Saps, Fruits, Minerals, and Vegetables. It’s important to avoid duplicates in the display, as this will result in penalties.

Tip #3

For item quality and sell price, focus on including high-quality items with higher sell prices. Items with Iridium quality are especially valuable, as they earn the most points. The game factors in the actual sell price of the item, so even if an item is a lower quality but has a high sell price, it can still contribute to a better score. Items with a sell price of 200g or more are ideal, as they earn 8 points for the best quality. In your first year, aim for silver or gold quality items like gold cheese, melons, or pickled cauliflower, as they provide a solid base for a competitive display.

Tip #4

In terms of mini-games, each one offers different ways to earn Star Tokens. In the Fishing Minigame, prioritize perfect catches to maximize your token earnings. Each fish caught yields between 12 and 25 tokens, with bonus tokens for flawless catches. In the Slingshot Minigame, focus on hitting purple targets for 5 points each, and aim for high accuracy to increase your multiplier. The Spinning Wheel is a gamble, so bet on green as it has a higher chance of winning. The optimal bet is 46.7% of your total tokens on green to maximize potential profit while minimizing loss. The Smashing Stone is a free activity but only yields one token per successful click.

Tip #5

For overall token maximization, focus on participating in all activities available at the fair. This includes the Grange Display, mini-games, and the Spinning Wheel. The Grange Display typically offers the highest Star Token rewards, so it should be your primary focus.

Tip #6

Don’t forget to save up for the Stardrop, which costs 2,000 Star Tokens but provides a permanent energy boost—making it the most valuable item at the fair. Keep in mind that there is a token limit of 9,999 Star Tokens, so be sure to spend them before leaving the fair to avoid losing excess tokens. Each year, the shop’s inventory resets, so check for new items to purchase and consider saving up for things like Rarecrows or the Stardrop.

Tip #7

Lastly, take advantage of the week before the fair to prepare. This gives you ample time to ensure your Grange Display is properly set up, with a diverse range of high-quality items across categories. With careful planning and strategy, you can make the most of the fair, win the Grange Display, earn lots of Star Tokens, and collect the valuable items that will help you progress in the game.
