Introduction to Stardew Valley Elliott Guide
Elliott is a villager who resides on the beach south of Pelican Town. He is a writer with a dream of crafting a great novel, known for his sentimental and romantic nature. His tendency to express himself with poetic and flowery language adds to his charm. Elliott enjoys a strong beverage at the Stardrop Saloon when he has the means to indulge. His birthday is on Fall 5, and he lives in a cozy cabin by the beach.
Elliott’s schedule is influenced by the season and the player’s relationship with Leah, a fellow villager. Typically, Elliott spends his mornings at home, though his afternoons are often spent at various locations like the beach, docks, library, or forest. He visits the clinic on Summer 9 and can be found at the Night Market on Winter 17.
Elliott’s favorite gifts include Crab Cakes, Duck Feather, Lobster, Pomegranate, Squid Ink, Tom Kha Soup, and Universal Loves. He also likes Octopus, Squid, all fruits (except Pomegranate and Salmonberry), and most of the Universal Likes, although he dislikes Amaranth and Pizza.
His heart events focus on his life as an author. At two hearts, entering his cabin triggers an event.
At four hearts, visiting the Stardrop Saloon between 3 pm and 10 pm when Gus is present will unlock another event.
At six hearts, entering his home while he is there will trigger a scene.
At eight hearts, after receiving a letter from Elliott, visiting the museum between 1 pm and 7 pm will trigger an event.
At ten hearts, going to the beach on a non-rainy day between 7 am and 1 pm will unlock another heart event. Finally, at fourteen hearts, exiting the farmhouse between 6 am and 3 pm on a day with no upcoming festivals will trigger a special event.
Once married, Elliott moves into the farmhouse and adds his own room along with a small garden. He may offer coffee on rainy mornings and dinner on rainy nights. On New Year’s Eve, Elliott gifts the player a bottle of wine as a token of affection.

Elliott is known for his sentimental and romantic nature, often expressing himself with poetic and flowery language. He enjoys a strong beverage at the Stardrop Saloon when he has the means to do so. Elliott’s birthday falls on Fall 5, and he spends his days pursuing his writing passion.
Elliott’s schedule changes based on the season and the player’s relationship with Leah, his friend. In the mornings, he typically stays at his cabin. Depending on the season, he may visit locations such as the beach, docks, library, or forest. On Summer 9, Elliott visits the clinic, and on Winter 17, he can be found at the Night Market. He shares friendly relationships with Willy and Leah, who are important figures in his life.
Daily Schedule
Elliott’s daily schedule changes depending on the season and the player’s relationship with Leah. If it is raining, he will stay inside his house all day.
In Spring, most days he stays at home until noon, then goes to the beach near his house. At 1:30 PM, he returns home and later heads to the bridge near the beach at 3:00 PM, returning home by 6:00 PM. On Thursdays, Elliott stays at home until 11:30 AM, then visits Pierre’s General Store until 5:30 PM, returning home after. This schedule also applies on Fridays if the player has 6+ hearts with Leah.
If the player has less than 6 hearts with Leah, Elliott stays at home until 11:00 AM, then goes to the docks near Willy’s house, visiting the Stardrop Saloon at 5:00 PM until 11:40 PM. On Sundays, if the player has less than 6 hearts with Leah, he follows the same schedule as Friday. On Spring 15, when the bus service is restored, Elliott attends the Desert Festival at 11:00 AM, returning to the Valley at 1:40 PM.
During Summer, Elliott spends most of his days at home until 11:30 AM before heading to Cindersap Forest until 6:00 PM, returning home by 7:40 PM. On Thursdays, he follows the same schedule as in Spring, going to Pierre’s General Store until 5:30 PM, and this is also true on Fridays if the player has 6+ hearts with Leah.
If the player has fewer than 6 hearts with Leah, Elliott stays at home until 11:00 AM, then visits the docks before going to the Stardrop Saloon at 5:00 PM. On Summer 9, Elliott goes to the clinic in the morning, staying there until 4:00 PM. In case of Green Rain in Year 1, Elliott spends the day at the Stardrop Saloon.
In Fall, most days he stays at home until 11:30 AM, then goes to the Library until 5:30 PM. His schedule on Thursdays and Fridays mirrors that of Spring and Summer, where he visits Pierre’s General Store or the docks and the Stardrop Saloon, depending on his relationship with Leah.
In Winter, Elliott stays at home until 11:30 AM, then visits the Library until 5:30 PM, returning home for the evening. At 6:40 PM, he stands by his bonsai tree before moving to his writing desk at 9:00 PM. His Thursday and Friday schedules are the same as in Fall and Summer. On Winter 12 and 13, he leaves his cabin at 8:00 AM to visit the docks and then the Stardrop Saloon in the evening. On Winter 17, Elliott spends the day visiting the Museum and the Night Market, returning home at 1:00 AM.
After the Beach Resort on Ginger Island is unlocked, Elliott may randomly spend a day there, returning home by 6:00 PM. He does not visit the Resort on festival days or during his clinic checkups. Additionally, his schedule will adjust depending on his relationship with Leah, especially on Fridays, when he either visits Pierre’s General Store or spends time at the docks and the Stardrop Saloon, depending on their friendship level.
Gifts

Elliott has specific preferences when it comes to gifts, and knowing them can help raise his friendship level. You can give him up to two gifts per week, with a bonus gift on his birthday, Fall 5. Giving gifts on his birthday will have 8 times the effect, and gifting Stardrop Tea will provide 250 friendship points, which is equivalent to one heart.
Elliott’s loved gifts include Crab Cakes, Duck Feather, Lobster, Pomegranate, Squid Ink, Tom Kha Soup, and all Universal Loves. His liked gifts are Octopus, Squid, all fruits (except Pomegranate and Salmonberry), and all Universal Likes (except Amaranth and Pizza). Neutral gifts that Elliott will accept include all forage from the beach (except Seaweed), all eggs (except Void Egg), all fish (except Carp, Lobster, Octopus, Sea Cucumber, Snail, and Squid), and all Universal Neutrals (except Duck Feather and Squid Ink).
Elliott dislikes many items, including all milk, Chanterelle, Common Mushroom, Daffodil, Dandelion, Ginger, Hazelnut, Holly, Leek, Magma Cap, Morel, Pizza, Purple Mushroom, Wild Horseradish, and Winter Root, along with all Universal Dislikes (except Fish). He also hates Amaranth, Quartz, Salmonberry, Sea Cucumber, Super Cucumber, and all Universal Hates.
If you attempt to gift Elliott a Sea Cucumber or Super Cucumber, he will return it to you, reverting it to regular quality.
For an efficient gifting strategy, Duck Feathers are an easy option once you upgrade your coop and start getting feathers from ducks. Pomegranate Trees will produce one fruit per day during the harvesting season, making them an effective way to obtain a loved gift. Universal Likes and Loves are generally a safe way to gain friendship points, while it’s best to avoid foraged items since Elliott dislikes many of them.
Heart Events

Elliott’s heart events are a series of cutscenes that unlock as the player builds a friendship with him, offering insights into his life and personality. These events are triggered by visiting specific locations at certain times once the required number of hearts is reached. Some events also involve dialogue choices that can affect the player’s relationship with him.
At two hearts, if you enter Elliott’s cabin while he is there, he will explain that he came to Pelican Town to become a writer and ask what type of novels you enjoy: Mystery, Romance, or Sci-Fi. Each option grants 30 friendship points and impacts a future heart event. At four hearts, entering the Stardrop Saloon between 3 PM and 10 PM while Gus is present will trigger an event where Elliott orders a drink for you, and a toast is proposed.
You can choose from four options: “To Pelican Town!” (25 points), “To our friendship!” (50 points), “To my good health!” (-10 points), or “To your doom!” (-50 points). The drink consumed during the event restores 50 Energy and 22 Health and leaves the player with the “Tipsy” buff.
At six hearts, if you enter Elliott’s home while he is present, you will find him playing the piano. You can choose between two dialogue options, neither of which affects friendship points: “That was wonderful” or “How long have you been playing?” At eight hearts, after receiving a letter from Elliott, you can visit the Museum between 1 PM and 7 PM. During this event,
Elliott reads from his completed novel in front of several villagers. The genre of the novel depends on your choice in the Two Hearts event: Blue Tower for Mystery, Camellia Station for Romance, or The Rise And Fall Of Planet Yazzo for Sci-Fi. Afterward, Elliott thanks everyone and reveals that the book was dedicated to you, inspired by your favorite genre.
At ten hearts, if you go to the beach on a non-rainy day between 7 AM and 1 PM, Elliott invites you on a “maiden voyage” in a fixed-up rowboat. If you decline, the event ends. If you accept, you can choose to express that you’re happy, which boosts friendship, or tell him you’re uncomfortable, which lowers it. The Group Ten-Heart Event occurs if you’re unmarried, have given a bouquet to all available bachelors, raised friendship with each to 10 hearts, and witnessed all their ten-heart events.
Entering the Stardrop Saloon triggers a cutscene. If you have a Rabbit’s Foot in your inventory, the cutscene consists of a friendly game of pool. If you don’t, all bachelors will be upset with you for dating them all at once, resulting in a week of the “cold shoulder” where they refuse gifts. After a week, they will forgive you, and dialogues will return to normal. This event can only occur once per save file.
At fourteen hearts, when you exit the farmhouse between 6 AM and 3 PM on a day with no festivals scheduled for the next eight days, Elliott will be waiting on the front porch. He will send you daily letters for a week while he’s on a book signing tour. On the second day, a Crab Cakes dish will appear in your fridge or Mini-Fridge if there’s space. On the eighth day, Elliott will return home, and the final part of the event triggers when you wake up.
These heart events are crucial for building a strong relationship with Elliott and progressing towards marriage.
Marriage

To marry Elliott, you must first reach a 10-heart friendship level with him and then give him a Mermaid’s Pendant. Once married, Elliott will move into the farmhouse.
To start the process, you need to reach 8 hearts with Elliott. Once you reach this milestone, Pierre will send you a letter informing you that he has a Bouquet available for sale in his store for 200g. This bouquet allows you to begin dating Elliott. Gift it to him, and his relationship status will change to “Boyfriend” in the Social menu. Once you reach 10 hearts with Elliott, you will receive a letter from Mayor Lewis about marriage traditions in Stardew Valley, and he will inform you that to propose, you need a Mermaid’s Pendant.
To obtain the Mermaid’s Pendant, you must find the Old Mariner, who appears on the far side of the beach near the tide pools when it rains. The bridge to access him must be repaired. The Old Mariner will sell you the pendant for 5,000g. If it doesn’t rain naturally during the Winter, you may need to use a Rain Totem to trigger his appearance. Once you have the Mermaid’s Pendant, present it to Elliott as a gift. He will accept your proposal, and your wedding will be set for three days after the proposal. If there is an event happening in Pelican Town on that day, your wedding will be delayed by a day.
After the wedding, Elliott will move into the farmhouse with you. His unique spousal room will be added to the right side of the farmhouse, and a couple of potted plants will appear outside in a small nook where he occasionally reads. He will also create a small garden behind the farmhouse. Elliott has a unique schedule on Mondays, where he leaves the farmhouse at 8:30 AM to go to the beach and returns at 5:00 PM. On rainy days, he will stay inside the farmhouse.
He will help with daily farm tasks such as watering crops, feeding animals, watering the animal bowl, and repairing broken fences. He may also give gifts, decorate the house, or spend time in his special areas inside or outside.
On rainy mornings or when he stays inside, Elliott may offer you Coffee. On rainy nights, he may also offer you dinner, such as Baked Fish, Fried Calamari, Chowder, or Fish Stew. On New Year’s Eve (Winter 28), he will give you a bottle of Wine. To maintain your marriage, you will need to speak with Elliott daily. Most mornings, he will be in the kitchen, and all you need to do is talk to him. Once you reach 14 hearts together, a special 14-heart event will unlock. To trigger this, exit the farmhouse between 6 AM and 3 PM, and make sure no festivals or events (except a villager’s birthday) are scheduled for the next 8 days.
If you decide to divorce Elliott, you can do so at the Mayor’s house. While he will harbor some negative feelings toward you, you can later use a Shrine (after completing The Dark Talisman quest) to erase the memory of any ex-spouse.
Movie Theater
The Movie Theater in Stardew Valley provides a fun way to boost friendship with villagers by inviting them to watch a movie and offering them snacks they enjoy. To invite Elliott to the movies, you must first purchase a ticket for 1,000g, then gift it to him. Afterward, you can go to the theater together on the same day. Choosing movies and concessions that Elliott likes or loves will significantly increase your friendship.
Elliott has specific preferences for both movies and concessions. His favorite movie is Mysterium, while he enjoys several other films, including The Brave Little Sapling, Natural Wonders: Exploring Our Vibrant World, The Miracle At Coldstar Ranch, Wumbus, and The Zuzu City Express. However, he dislikes It Howls In The Rain and Journey Of The Prairie King: The Motion Picture.
As for concessions, Elliott loves Cappuccino Mousse Cake, Stardrop Sorbet, and Truffle Popcorn. He also likes a variety of other snacks, such as Apple Slices, Chocolate Popcorn, Hummus Snack Pack, Ice Cream Sandwich, Jasmine Tea, Kale Smoothie, Panzanella Salad, Salmon Burger, and Star Cookie. He dislikes any concession that is not in his “loved” or “liked” categories. Choosing his preferred snacks and movies will ensure that your time at the movies helps strengthen your bond.
Quotes
Elliott’s personality shines through in his various quotes, which reveal his romantic and slightly reclusive nature. His quotes vary by season, friendship level, and marital status. When first meeting the player, Elliott introduces himself with a sense of curiosity, describing himself as the writer who lives by the beach, away from the bustle of town life. Over time, he shares more of his thoughts, often reflecting on his creative process and love for solitude. He values peace, often mentioning how the tranquility of the beach inspires him. Despite his love for isolation, he also appreciates the quiet company of others, especially when his friendship with the player deepens.
In the summer, Elliott is more relaxed, enjoying the warmth and beauty of the season. He often reflects on nature, from the rare shells by his cabin to the satisfaction of watching crops grow. Fall brings a more introspective side of Elliott, where he shares his creative thoughts and occasional longing for inspiration. Winter finds him in a more reflective mood, sometimes feeling a little nostalgic for his life by the sea, and he mentions the effort it takes to care for his appearance in the colder months.
When the player becomes closer to Elliott, especially at higher friendship levels, his vulnerability comes to the forefront. He occasionally expresses self-doubt, wondering if he’s more self-absorbed than talented, but always appreciates the player’s kindness and attention. In moments of uncertainty, such as during his 8-heart events, he shares concerns about his future, revealing his deep-seated fear of loneliness. Despite his solitary lifestyle, Elliott grows to value the companionship of someone who understands his artistic spirit.
Elliott’s dialogue after marriage shows how deeply his feelings have evolved. He cherishes his time with the player, expressing how he feels better about himself since they’ve been together. He shares personal moments like his morning routines, occasional nightmares, and even the difficulty of taking care of house chores. He enjoys the peaceful life they’ve created on the farm, often reflecting on how his creativity flows in such an environment. When it rains, Elliott finds inspiration for writing, yet he also misses the sound of the ocean, which once comforted him.
Elliott’s romantic quotes throughout their relationship show a man who, despite his initial aloofness, has a deeply affectionate and poetic heart. From sweet whispers to poetic declarations of love, he truly values his connection with the player. In their married life, he becomes more attuned to the rhythms of family life, from caring for children to planning for the future. Whether it’s a small gesture like making coffee or bigger dreams like having a child, Elliott remains thoughtful and sentimental. As a husband and father, he proves that his love for solitude is matched only by his love for his family, and his feelings for the player only grow deeper with time.
Quests
Elliott may occasionally request items through the “Help Wanted” board located outside Pierre’s General Store. These quests are a great way to earn rewards, including three times the item’s base value and 150 Friendship points. When Elliott posts a request, you can complete it by delivering the requested item to him. This is a reliable way to increase your relationship with Elliott while also earning extra resources. Keep an eye on the board regularly to see if any of his requests come up, and remember that the reward is based on the base value of the item, so it’s worth completing these quests whenever possible.

Trivia
Elliott is one of the three “older bachelors” in Pelican Town, as confirmed in Secret Note #7. Despite his 10-heart event letter mentioning that you should meet him “on a sunny day,” the event will still trigger if it is snowing. He will not accept Sea Cucumbers or Super Cucumbers as gifts and will return them to the player. As a writer, Elliott dreams of creating a magnificent novel and tends to speak in poetic and romantic terms. He enjoys a strong drink at the Stardrop Saloon whenever he has the means. Elliott lives alone in a cabin located on the beach south of Pelican Town.
He is one of the twelve eligible bachelors and bachelorettes available for marriage. If you have at least 6 hearts with Leah, Elliott’s schedule will change slightly. His favored gifts can be quite unique, reflecting his eccentric tastes. His heart events revolve around his aspirations as an author. Over the years of development, Elliott’s appearance evolved, making him one of the more distinctive characters in the game. He maintains friendships with Willy and Leah, and if neither of them is dancing with the player at the Flower Dance, Elliott will dance with Leah.
Elliott is 25 years old and moved to Pelican Town to escape the pressures of city life and find inspiration. He has a deep love for literature, nature’s beauty, and the finer things in life. His birthday is on Fall 5, and he has a doctor’s visit scheduled for Summer 9. He also visits the Night Market on Winter 17. His schedule is relatively easy to follow, with rainy days spent indoors at his cabin. Although Elliott is somewhat of a recluse, focused on finishing his novel, he knows when to reward himself with a visit to the Stardrop Saloon for a drink. He rarely ventures into town, preferring the solitude of his beachside cabin.
