Overview of the Arsenal

The Arsenal in Evony is used to upgrade soldiers you have created. This building unlocks at keep level 27, and can not be upgraded past level one.

Building Requirements and Upgrade Requirements

Troop Upgrades

Eligible Troops: Only troops above Tier 10 (t10) can be upgraded, such as from 10 to 11, 11 to 12, and so on. Troops under Tier 9 (t9) cannot be upgraded.

Requirements: Upgrading troops requires resources and is not instantaneous (although it can be completed instantly by paying gems). You must have Barracks, Archer camps, Stables, and Workshops levelled up to the level you wish to upgrade to. Additionally, the troops you want to upgrade must be inside the castle; wounded troops in the hospital need to be healed first.

Impact on Monarch’s Power: When you start an upgrade, the monarch’s power decreases by the amount of the target troops, but it increases again once the upgrade is finished​​.

Cost Effectiveness

Creating vs. Upgrading: It’s generally less expensive to create new troops than to upgrade existing ones. For example, the cost of creating a new Tier 11 (t11) troop is less than the combined cost of creating a new Tier 10 (t10) troop and then upgrading it to t11​​.

Troop Creation Priorities: It’s recommended to focus on creating at least t10 troops from Keep level 25 (k25) onwards, and possibly starting from t12 at k30. This approach is more resource and speedup efficient.

Upgrading Strategy: For heavily paying users, it might be better to not upgrade and instead keep creating new higher-tier troops. Some would argue that upgrading mounted troops to t13 can be beneficial for hunting stronger monsters​​.
