7/27/2023 Update: Added Imperial Equipment, Parthian Equipment, and Forge Master Certificates.
In this Evony Forge Guide, The Forge is where you craft equipment for your generals. Higher Forge levels unlock stronger equipment, so upgrading the building is important as you progress.
Civilization Equipment is an exception. It is crafted through the Wonder, not the Forge. You do not need to upgrade the Forge or unlock the Wonder itself to craft Civilization Equipment, but your Keep must be Level 33.
Crafting equipment requires both Materials and the appropriate Scrolls.
The Forge becomes available at Keep Level 7.
To upgrade the Forge beyond Level 25, you will also need to increase the level of your Watchtower.

Craft
Used to craft equipment for your generals.
Equipment Upgrade
Allows you to upgrade existing equipment into stronger versions.
You can upgrade:
- Dragon Equipment → Ares Equipment
- Ares Equipment → Imperial Equipment
- Achaemenidae Equipment → Parthian Equipment
Equipment must first be removed from the general before it can be upgraded.
The Equipment Upgrade feature unlocks at Forge Level 30.
Materials
This section allows you to:
- Compose lower-grade materials into higher-grade materials
- Disassemble materials
The equipment category will also appear on the item’s information screen.
Duty
The Duty Officer feature unlocks at Forge Level 28.

These are the main equipment milestones when upgrading your Forge:
- Level 5: Purple Equipment
- Level 9: Orange Equipment
- Level 13: Gold – Champion’s Equipment
- Level 17: Gold – General’s Equipment
- Level 21: Gold – King’s Equipment
- Level 27: Red – Dragon Equipment and Duty Officer Equipment, except Keep equipment
- Level 28: Forge Duty Officer unlocked
- Level 30: Red – Ares Equipment and Imperial Equipment
- Level 33: Red – Achaemenidae Equipment, Parthian Equipment, and Keep Duty Officer Equipment
Important Forge Milestones
Level 13 – Champion’s Equipment
Champion’s Equipment is particularly useful for resource gathering.
Equipping your main gathering general with a set of 4 Champion’s Equipment pieces provides an additional resource bonus after gathering is completed.
Level 21 – King’s Equipment
King’s Equipment is useful for improving double item drop rates, especially the Fearless King’s Ring.
Other rings can also increase double item drop rate, but the King’s Ring is generally one of the most cost-effective options.
Level 33 – Achaemenidae Equipment
Achaemenidae Equipment is especially valuable for its debuff effects.
At Keep Level 33 and above, equipping subordinate city mayors with full 6-piece Achaemenidae sets can provide significant advantages in PvP by increasing the debuffs applied to enemy troops.

Evony Forge Guide: How to Speed Up Equipment Crafting
There are two main ways to reduce crafting time:
- Increase your Crafting Speed buff
- Use Speed Up items
Increasing Crafting Speed
Your current Crafting Speed bonus can be viewed under:
Monarch Details → Administration → Crafting Speed
Several methods can increase this bonus.
Research
Advance the Blacksmith research found under the Defense section of the Academy. This research requires Academy Level 14. It is also useful to improve Typography and Super Typography under the Advancement research tree, as these reduce research time and help you complete Forge-related research faster.
Monarch Gear
Equip the appropriate Monarch Gear that improves crafting-related bonuses before beginning the crafting process. Improving the level of your Monarch Gear will further increase the bonuses it provides.
Duty Officer
Assign a Duty Officer to the Forge before starting equipment crafting. Any sufficiently trained general can be assigned if your main goal is simply to receive the basic Duty Officer bonus. However, generals with Forge-specific skills can provide additional benefits.
Evony Forge Guide: How to Get Speed Up Items
Speed Up items can be used to instantly reduce the remaining time required to craft equipment. One of the fastest ways to collect large quantities of Speed Ups is by defeating Boss Monsters. Participating in frequent boss rallies with your alliance can provide a steady supply of Speed Up items and other useful rewards.
Evony Forge Guide: How to Get Materials
One of the most effective ways to obtain large amounts of equipment materials is by defeating Vikings.
Defeating Vikings alone provides fewer rewards, so it is generally more efficient to participate in as many Alliance Viking rallies as possible.
Materials can also be obtained from:
- Relic Chambers
- Consuming Return Events
- Research Factory production
- Subordinate City production
- Limited-Time Promotions
- Boss rewards and chests
- Other events and activities
Evony Forge Guide Duty Officer
The Forge Duty Officer feature unlocks at Forge Level 28. Assigning a Duty Officer to the Forge increases your Crafting Speed. Any general who meets the required Duty Officer conditions can be assigned if you only want the standard bonus. For stronger Forge-specific bonuses, some generals are more suitable than others.
Recommended Forge Duty Officers
Hugh O’Donnell is one of the best options for the Forge. Another option is Ono no Imoko, whose skills provide Forge-related bonuses, including increased crafting speed.
Keep in mind that generals must meet certain requirements before they can be assigned as Duty Officers. This typically involves increasing their level, stars, and overall attributes.
