Evony Blanche’s Backstory
Blanche of Castile entered the French court with the glory of Castile and the elegance of England, becoming a legendary queen and regent. During her decade-long reign, Blanche led France into an era of prosperity. Widowed in 1226, she secured her son’s coronation as King of France and quickly stabilized the kingdom through strong leadership and strategic negotiations. Throughout this period, Blanche thwarted numerous noble conspiracies, most notably during the Breton Campaign in the winter of 1229.
Provoked by the Duke of Brittany and his allies, Blanche acted decisively. She leveraged the harsh winter and the terrain to her advantage, personally leading the troops in a surprise attack. Mobilizing the citizens of Paris and employing clever tactics, she defeated the Duke’s forces, forcing them into submission. This victory further solidified the stability of the French crown.
