The Evony Expedition feature allows you to complete a series of PVE battles for great rewards. This feature was added in September 2024, and allows players to claim passively rewards, as well as being rewarded for completing stages. This guide will discuss how to access the Evony Expedition feature, how best to defeat the stages, and also how the rewards work – so if you are just starting out, or stuck on a high level, this Evony Expedition guide is for you!
How to access the Evony Expedition
The Expedition feature can be located by clicking on the Wall. When you click on the Wall, a series of options will appear – one of which is Expedition.
Once you click on Expedition, you will be brought to this menu. Here you can check your servers Top Charts – the ranking system of who is on the highest level in your server, Battle Logs – where you can see how previous Expeditions have went, Expedition Income – passive income, will discuss more on this later, and of course, the Expedition button which allows you to start a PVE battle.
As you progress through the Expedition, the enemy troops buffs and troop tiers increase. At Stage 191 the enemy unlocks T14 for example.
How to beat the Evony Expedition Stages
Depending on your army and buffs, you will first run of rounds quite easy – on a fresh k36 accounts I managed to get to approximately level 165 before I had to start carefully planning my marches. If you are doing this for the first time, there is an auto feature that you can leave enabled at the end of the Expedition – this is what I done. I enabled the auto feature and played Counter Strike for 30 minutes whilst it got me up to the level that I actually had to care about. Do not worry about marches failing etc. as you do not get any wounded or killed troops, all troops and Generals are refreshed at the end of each Expedition.
Now that you are at a level that you might be starting to struggle with, lets discuss how to overcome it. Well first of all, we have to identify the enemy march types. You can do this by clicking on the stage level you are at, just above the Expedition button. This will open a menu that will detail the enemy troop composition:
Every 5 levels you will be paired against a PVE round against 3 enemy marches, but for simplicity in this example we will do it with just 1. Notice how in the above screenshot the enemy army is largely made up of ground troops, there are three methods to countering this:
- As you would expect, send your normal cav march
- If your cav march fails, send 10k layers and then your highest tier of Cav troops
- If this fails, send 10k layers and then 50% your highest tier of Cav, and 50% highest tier of Ground.
The method of using a mix of the same troop as the enemy, and also the counter troop, seems to yield the best results. The exception to this is if the enemy has a siege march, at which point you are best to use a ground march. If number 3 doesn’t work, resort back to number 2 and play around with it. Remember, you get no wounded etc. so its worth toying around and seeing what combinations work best for you! Particularly if you have uneven buffs.
To give your best chance of progressing, I recommend you activate buffs – furthermore, you can do the Evony Expedition during things like Battlefield or Huns in order to gain additional buffs which will hopefully help you progress further! Particularly as you start to get around 180+, the stage rewards increase massively. From 175 to 190 I gained 700m of each rss. Past the 200 mark is when it really kicks in, and players are reporting 20-40b additional resources of each type. You also will periodically earn additional rewards such as Blood of Ares from reaching certain stages.
Expedition Rewards Explained
There are two types of rewards available from Expedition: Stage Clearing and Passive.
The Stage Clearing rewards in Expedition is simply the rewards you gain from completing a stage. These rewards increase as you progress and typically include resources and speedups, although every 5 stages you will earn a bonus reward such as Blood of Ares or Ruby Necklace.
The passive rewards are rewards that are constantly accumulated for which there are two types: Baseline resources – you will gain a fixed amount of resources per hour based on your stage progression, and additional rewards – these are random rewards that you can collect. Current known additional rewards are as follows:
- Merit Jade
- Covenant Stones
- BOC Tokens
- Monarch EXP
- Spiritual Beast EXP
- Super RSS Chest
- Epic Historic General Fragment (Premium)
- Ruby Necklace
- Runestones
- Blood of Ares
- General EXP
- Chips
- SOL
- Medals
- Dragon Crystal
- Art Treasure Scroll Chest
- 8 Hour Speedups
- Material Bag (Silk Road)
- Gold
- Refine Stones
- Artwork Fragment Chest
As you can see, the rewards are quite extensive! It is not clear as to any pattern to these rewards, they seem to be given out at random. We are still figuring out at what stage you will start to obtain these rewards (as most players tend to auto play until further into it, and presumably these rewards are activated nearer the beginning of Expedition).
You must make sure to claim the rewards at least every 12 hours, as you can only accumulate rewards for up to 12 hours!
Good luck with the Evony Expedition – enjoy those tasty rewards!
