The Expedition to Egypt event was added on the 1st of December, 2023. This guide will cover what the event is, how to play it, rewards, and tips and tricks to ensure you win! Please note, there are two variations of this event – one with Pyramids and one with Sphinx’s.
Introduction
The Expedition to Egypt event works similarly to Treasure Hunt or Barbarians. During this event you will have 10 opportunities per day to attack / rally Fortress Pyramids or Sphinx Castles that spawn randomly across the map.
Fortress Pyramids / Sphinx Castle
These Pyramids / Sphinx’s spawn randomly across the map, and there are five levels:

How to Kill Fortress Pyramids / Sphinx Castles in Expedition to Egypt
To kill Fortress Pyramids / Sphinx Castles, you should treat them like bosses, and send single tier cav marches with your alliance joining rallies with one troop (not siege). You can attack or rally these Pyramids.
Please note, whilst on paper they are the same difficulty to kill (same power), it is being reported that Sphinx Castles are harder to kill that Fortress Pyramids. We will create a list of troop combinations below as we figure it out – if you have any information, please post in our Discord!

778k T12 arch, 5.5M general, academy 34 arch tech = 0 wounded

How to quickly find Fortress Pyramids / Sphinx Castles
There is a website called iScout which allows you to enter in your server number and will show you the coordinates of players, subs, barbs, pyramids etc. but for the purpose of this guide – all the Fortress Pyramids / Sphinx Castles. This is incredibly useful for quickly gaining score, and ensuring your victory in the event.
You simply select what you are looking for, which in this instance I will be looking for the buildings available on my servers map, and click Apply on the filter, and it will deliver the coordinates to all buildings available on the map!

Drops When Defeated Fortress Pyramids / Sphinx Castles
Once you have successfully defeated Fortress Pyramids, it drops Boxes around the area (similar to how Fenrir’s drop boxes). There are three levels dependant on the Fortress Pyramid, and three types. All three types always drop. You can claim up to 50 boxes per day.
Military Box
Below are screenshots of what the Military Box for each level drops:
The military boxes give you forging certificates, blood of ares, source of life, and resource chests.
Treasure Box

The treasure boxes drops dragon coins, loveheart boxes, runestone chests, and resource boxes.
Supply Box

The supply boxes drops resource chests, research speeds, and gold.
Hidden Fortress Pyramid
Upon purchasing a $99.99 “Expedition to Egypt Support Package”, you shall receive a Telescope amongst other items. Using this Telescope will spawn a “Hidden Fortress Pyramid”, or “Hidden Sphinx Castle”. The total points that this is worth is yet to be found out. This guide will be updated once we know.
Expedition to Egypt Rewards
There are four types of rewards (besides the boxes), monarch ranking, alliance ranking, monarch scores, and alliance scores.
Monarch Ranking
The monarch ranking offers permanent Keep Decorations (that give buffs), Napoleon Gold Coins (used to unlock Dragon), gems, and lots more. For a full list, click on the menu below to open it up.

Monarch Scores
The monarch scores offer gems, resources chest, healing speeds, treasure boxes, refining stones, and soul crystals. The thresholds are as follows:
- Bronze I – 5M
- Bronze II – 40M
- Bronze III – 85M
- Silver I – 125M
- Silver II – 165M
- Silver III – 200M
- Gold I – 300M
- Gold II – 400M
- Gold III – 500M
Alliance Scores
The alliance scores offer resources and training / healing speeds. The thresholds are as follows:
- Junior – 150M
- Medium – 200M
- Senior – 300M
- Special – 500M
- Super – 1B
New Keep Decoration – Fortress Pyramid
With the release of this event, they also released a new keep decoration – the “Fortress Pyramid”. This decoration can be won during the Expedition to Egypt event, both permanently and temporarily, and offers the following buffs:
- Own: Mounted Attack on Monster +5%
- Use: Gathering Speed +10%
- Use: March Speed to Monster +10%
- Use: March Speed + 10%
New Keep Decoration – Sphinx Castle
With the release of version 2 of the event, Evony released a new keep decoration – the “Sphinx Castle”. This decoration can be won during the event, both permanently and temporarily (14 days), and offers the following buffs:
- Own: Construction Speed +5%
- Use: Training Speed +5%
- Use: March Speed to Monsters +10%
- Use: Gathering Speed +5%
Tips and Tricks
- It is always better to rally Pyramids as you gain an additional 330,000 score (even if its just you that joins)
- You can use Ramune on Pyramids to avoid wounded
- Recommend ignoring Supply Boxes, and focusing on Treasure / Military in order to get better rewards.
