Evony Lucilla’s Backstory
Lucilla, the Roman princess and later empress, was a figure who combined her father’s wisdom and her mother’s beauty, making her shine like a gem in the imperial court. But her life was never destined to be one of mere luxury.
Raised in the splendor of Rome, Lucilla craved something deeper than the titles and honors bestowed upon her. After her father, Emperor Marcus Aurelius, passed, her brother Commodus took the throne. His reign, marked by cruelty and madness, plunged Rome into darkness. Refusing to watch the empire collapse under his tyranny, Lucilla resolved to lead a rebellion for justice.
In 198 AD, she joined forces with senators loyal to Rome’s virtues, intent on overthrowing her brother. However, their plot was discovered, and Lucilla’s fate was sealed. She was exiled to the distant island of Capri, stripped of her former glory. Even in exile, though, she maintained her dignity and courage, forever remembered as a symbol of bravery and defiance against oppression, her legacy immortalized in the annals of Roman history.
