General Specialty

Table of Contents

This guide shall concentrate on Specialties for Gold Historic generals, but the information is relevant for Purple Historic Generals as well.

What are Specialties?

Specialties are special buff / debuffs that only historic generals can acquire. Gold generals have four, and purple generals have three. These are unlocked at general level 25.

Specialty buffs on assistant generals are effective, sub city gens only apply to sub city troops, and duty officer is not effective unless it says, “applied to xxx Officer”.

Flexible Specialties can be added to a Gold Historic General once the first three specialties are at genius level.

Specifications

There are five types of specialties in a gold general:

  • Specialty One – Leadership Runestone
  • Specialty Two – Military Runestone
  • Specialty Three – Glory Runestone
  • Specialty Four – Immortal Runestone
  • Specialty Five – Flexible Specialty

There are five levels for each specialty:

  • Level One – Veteran (Green)
  • Level Two – Master (Blue)
  • Level Three – Expert (Purple)
  • Level Four – Grandmaster (Orange)
  • Level Five – Genius (Gold)

Please note that specialty four does not unlock until the first three specialties are at genius level, and then unlocks at the Veteran level (this is relevant only to Gold Historic Generals).

Cost

Below is a table of the costs associated with each of the four normal levels of specialties (from previous level):

Level:Runestone Required:Gems Required:

250010,000
31,00019,980
43,00060,000

This means that in order to raise a specialty to level 5, it will cost a total of 12,700 runestones and 253,980 gems. To maximise all four specialties, it would cost a total of 50,800 runestones.

Below is a table of the costs associated with the flex specialty:

How to get Runestones

There are a variety of ways to receive runestones:

  • Dwarf’s Lucky Apple Event – Potential to receive 100 runestone chests from Witch’s gift.
  • Battlefield – You can receive 40-350 chests per BOG, 50-450 for BOC, and 75 – 790 from Battle of Chalons.
  • Battlefield / SVS – You can receive runestones if you defeat an enemy and both sides troop power loss is more than 35 million power.
  • Daily Activity – 145 score rewards you with 5 runestone chests
  • Advanced Journey Event – If you pay 4.99$ for the Precious Treasure unlock, and complete all 50 levels you will receive a total of 1,000 chests.
  • Packs – There are a variety of packs that offer runestones.

How to get Lucky Stones

Lucky Stones can be used to double the experience gained from a runestone. These are acquired during battles when you defeat an enemy player in Battlefield or SVS and both sides lose a minimum of 35 million power.

For maximum efficiency, these should only be used to get your general fourth specialty from the orange to gold level.

Timeline for F2P

To acquire runestone chests completely free to play, would take a minimum of approximately 32 months to acquire one general with four gold specialties. This highlights that specialties is typically not accessible to F2P players.

Conclusion

In conclusion, runestones are great for paying players, although for free to play players it is unrealistic to expect to do well with specialties. Try and collect as many runestones as you can, and really decide fully on what generals to progress, as making wrong decisions would have massive consequences. I would suggest if you are F2P, wait until you have enough runestones before doing any unlocking as it can takes years to get the correct amount, at which point the general meta may have moved on.
