What is Ghosting?
Ghosting is a method used to avoid your troops being killed when attacked by another player. This is particularly useful when fighting for subordinate cities, attacking on SvS, BoC or BoG.
How to Ghost?
Click on a player (or a boss), select “Attack” > “Alliance War” > “60 Minutes”. This will Ghost your troops for one hour. The reason behind this is that during a rally your troops cannot be killed, although they do not necessarily have to actually start the rally march, you just cancel it when you are finished (or need to renew another 60 minutes).
Things to Remember
Whilst ghosting, unprotected resources can still be plundered. I would suggest only ghosting with either no resources to lose, or very little in comparison to the potential reward.
If you get “force ported” (attacked until your wall reaches zero HP and keep changes position involuntary on the map) all marches are recalled to your keep. Players can then attack you and kill your troops since you are no longer ghosting.
You can ghost even if you are not attacking with an army, but instead scouting – it just makes a secure way to hold your troops from being attacked when bubbling is not an option.
When ending a ghost rally, make sure you will not be attacked as soon as you end it as you do not want to recall your troops just as a wave lands and zeroes you.
You cannot ghost on a subordinate city. (Rallies are not available on subs)
Remember that ghosting on a boss costs stamina (although does not drop your five minute bubble when in enemy server during SVS), you may wish to ghost on a player instead. Remember though that player, along with their alliance, can see when (and when you are no longer), ghosting so be wary of this.
Turn off your alliance rally war notifications to keep alliance chat clear for your teammates.
Consider bookmarking a target in advance (especially if in svs), so you can quickly find something to ghost on.
Remember you can not teleport when ghosting (as rally count as outgoing troops even if not marching).
Unlink your defense general (unless in Battlefield) to avoid the general being killed.
Unlink your subs (unless in Battlefield) to avoid the generals being killed.
Pair ghosting with traps to gain easy score (see guide on traps here).
