Evony Version 4.85.0 Update Announcement

On the 31st of October, 2024, Evony version 4.85.0 became available. This update has three main features: Troop Limits, NPC Sub City optimizations, and Position Promotion Optimization.

Evony Troop Training Limit Update

Each level of troops now has a training cap – the cap, in my opinion, is very fair and promotes greater gameplay. Whilst I do not know of anyone who previously exceeded the cap, with the increase in popularity for mass training troops, it avoids potential issues that could have occurred in the future. Note, there was previously a cap of 2,147,483,647 troops per tier/type – this is because of the games architecture (signed 32-bit integer for the nerds reading this). The new troop caps are as follows:

• T1 = 2,147,000,000
• T2 – 4 = 1,200,000,000
• T5 – 7 = 500,000,000
• T8- 13 = 300,000,000
• T14 – 15= 200,000,000
• T16 = 100,000,000

Note, these limits are for each troop type / tier, so for example you could have 2,147,000,000 T1 cav AND 2,147,000,000 ground.

An interesting point, this means the maximum troop power is approximately 680b – for context players such as Neo are currently at 212b power (although at time of writing he is seemingly banned). Which is approaching 1/3rd of the maximum limit. When k50 increases, and then next tier of troops is released, this maximum will presumably be increased.

Evony NPC Sub City Optimization

A great update for new players is that when attacking NPC sub cities, troops will no longer instantly die – instead they will become wounded or deserter first (although make sure your hospital / holy palace doesn’t get full!). The casualty limit is now also in line with attacking monsters.

Evony Position Promotion Optimization

Evony Update 4.85.0 also saw the addition of promotions being made available for Leading Senator, Ruling Senator, and Honorary Senator in the Council of State / Senate. The requirements for these promotions are as follows for level one (in order of ground, mounted, ranged, and siege):

• Leading Senator:
  • Council of State level 8, and win server war and earn 540M monarch scores once
  • Council of State level 8, and win server war and earn 700M monarch scores twice
  • Council of State level 8, and win server war and earn 1B monarch scores four times
  • Council of State level 8, and win server war and earn 2B monarch scores six times
• Ruling Senator:
  • Council of State level 8, and win BOG and earn 2k personal scores once
  • Council of State level 8, and win BOG and earn 6k personal scores three times
  • Council of State level 8, and win BOG and earn 12k personal scores four times
  • Council of State level 8, and win BOG and earn 18k personal scores five times
• Honorary Senator:
  • Council of State level 8, and win BOC and earn 4k personal scores once
  • Council of State level 8, and win BOC and earn 10k personal scores three times
  • Council of State level 8, and win BOC and earn 20k personal scores four times
  • Council of State level 8, and win BOC and earn 30k personal scores five times

Furthermore, you can now cancel Historic Medals after you have started crafting them (if you started after the update, those started before cannot be cancelled). When cancelled you will receive all of the materials, but none of the speedups (if you used any).

Other New Features in Evony 4.85.0

New General – Algernon Sidney

In other news, in the Evony Version 4.85.0 update, another new general was added – Algernon Sidney. This is a ranged general with the possibility to unlock some nice march size buffs through Ascension, Specialties, and Covenant. He has a maximum march size buff of 44% if you include the march size increase book – which he is compatible with. Low(er) Cost General Fragments

Added to the Tavern was General fragments, which costs the same amount as a normal general. I think the idea behind this was to stop cluttering your generals due to the limitations of how many generals you can have – although when you purchase via fragments, you get the general in inventory to purchase, and still have to then open it up, and then spend 10k gems to perfectly dismiss to get fragments… to me this is a bit pointless, and I would have much preferred if when purchasing from the tavern it automatically came as fragments – even if we had to spend the gold and the gems at once. It would streamline the process and be a bit less annoying (or you know, let us perfectly dismiss without gem costs… but I doubt that will happen anytime soon).

With this addition though, is the new pack – “Historic General Ascension Package”. This package comes with some gems, blood of ares, runestones, medal, gold, general exp, and resources, but most importantly “Exclusive Ascension Fragment”. These fragments can be used for a number of different generals (we do not have a full list written out yet, but will probably make a tool for this at a later date). The fragments in each pack are as follows:

• $5 – 4 fragments
• $10 – 6 fragments
• $20 – 8 fragments
• $50 – 12 fragments
• $100 – 30 fragments

Note: You can not use double or triple coupons when purchasing this pack. Through this method, to ascend a general (assuming you have the base general), it will cost you $1,500 through this method. Which is a substantial amount, but cheaper than previous routes.

Conclusion to Evony Version 4.85.0

Overall, I think this is a pretty good update with lots of changes that enhance player experience. The cap on troops is good planning from Evony to ensure keeps do not become too beefy, and a mega whale does not become ‘untouchable’. The sub city changes are great to help new players, and the additional promotions in Senate gives larger players a F2P new source of buffs. The reduction in fragments is also great, and somewhat balances the constant release of new Generals – although I still wish they would slow down a bit, perhaps to every second event. It is certainly a lot of work to post all the new general information on here every event!
