Mistakes are costly in Evony, mistakes are especially costly if you have to cake and end up picking the wrong Duty Officer gear. One of the main reasons people pick the wrong Duty Officer gear is because Evony does not show you the available refines prior to crafting. As usual, that’s where Theria comes in – to clear up Evony’s silliness. This guide will go over all the Duty Officer Gear Refines, so you know what pieces of gear unlock what type of refines, and their maximum values, so you can compare gear and ensure you unlock the appropriate Duty Officer gear. We will also discuss the set bonuses, as well as the synergies.
Before we get started, I want to say, if you are looking to compare regular general gear – you can use our handy Gear Calculator. Anyway, without further ado, lets get into it.
Duty Officer Gear Buffs
Starting off we will discuss the buffs available for Duty Officer gear – mainly because that’s what most people are interested in, although if you are new to Duty Officer gear, don’t worry – we will discuss that in the later section of this guide.
Duty Officer Gear Refines
Below is an interactive tool with all of the Duty Officer gear – you can use the tool to search, or sort by set type or gear type. For example, if you want to see gear that gives “Ranged” bonus, type “Ranged” into the search bar. Click on the gear you would like to see the refines for, and a table will appear with all the information you need.
Note: We are still collecting info on Archer Camp. Helmet / Leg Armor / Boots for Archer Tower / Barracks / Stables / Workshop haven’t been released yet.
Duty Officer Gear Set Bonuses
Below is a set of images detailing the set bonus for each set. This isn't going to be the prettiest work I have ever posted, but all the information you need is there - don't hate. Note: Not every set has a bonus.
P.S. Some are red and some are white, purely because I am working from a spreadsheet and doing that to separate them visually whilst I add values (and yes, putting them in alphabetical order in my spreadsheet would be too much common sense).

Duty Officer Gear Information
How to Obtain Duty Officer Gear
To obtain Duty Officer gear, you are going to need to spend... a lot!
Cake 8 gives a weapon / chest piece, and cake 10 gives another piece. Royal cake (champagne tower) gives a further piece either level 6 or 7, whatever level is just before the last level.
You can also earn Duty Officer gear through the "Tomb Expedition" event. In this event you have to pass through 5 stages and claim all the rewards. To finish this event in its entirety, you can do it was 2 triple downs, and 11 double downs (10 from event, 1 from Royal Cake). During this event you can also get a red Duty Officer chest for $400 if you are patient and complete all your daily activities for the event.
Advanced Refining Duty Officer Gear
Unlike regular Advanced Refining, Duty Officer Gear is a bit different. Rather than simply using Refining stones, you have to use ... This means that Advanced Refining Duty Officer Gear is a huge cost, and is typically only reserved for massive whales. If you are going to Advanced Refine, there is the chance that you do not get the refine you want - with most (but not all gear), offering a 33% chance of getting a certain buff. Furthermore, you then may not get a high end, yellow, refine - with the chances of this being typically 5%. Resulting in the chance of you getting a high end specific refine being 1.65%.
Gear Synergy Explained
When one piece of duty officer gear for each set has an Advanced Refinement, it activates the "Synergy" effect for that set. There are only a few sets that have gear synergy, but for those that do, it is the sets with 6 pieces of gear in the set. As you advanced refine the gear in each set, it will have a color grade (White / Purple / Orange / Gold). You unlock "Synergy Attributes" depending on how many of each color grades you have.
Okay, that sounds confusing, but its really simple. For example, with the Keep Officer set, if you have 4 Gold Advanced Refines, you unlock a 5% Troop Attack, Defense, and HP bonus. It works similar to civilization cards and how you upgrade them (but instead of the quality of the cards, its the quality of the advanced refines).
Duty Officer Scroll Chest
If you are a whale and have spare scroll chests and a new set of duty gear releases, make sure to wait and see what pieces will be made available in the cake. For example, if the ring and the armor is made available in the cake, it would be a waste for you to use a scroll chest before you know this, to obtain either of those pieces. Now, you might get lucky and you won't have duplicates, but if possible, it is best to wait! Usually after a new set releases, it is available in the cake within 1 - 2 event cycles.
