Evony Battle of Constantinople (BOC)

This is an overall summary for Battle of Constantinople – I suggest you skip over the first few bits if you already know what you are doing.

What is BoC?

Battle of Constantinople is a two hour event that opens once per week, in which 20 players of the top 10 alliances in your server may enter a battlefield. The objective? To capture nodes throughout the map, conquer your enemies and reign victorious – for which, the rewards are great. During this fight, no troops are lost in your normal world, healing costs nothing, and all troops are automatically healed upon exiting the battlefield (apart from subordinate city troops).

Rules

Sign up begins one day before the start of the event. To qualify for the event your alliance must: A) Be 14 days old B) Rank top 10 in your server. During sign up you can select a time in which to participate – I suggest discussing this with your alliance before deciding which time you shall go with (although this can be changed right up until the end of sign up).

Upon the sign up time entered by your alliance, you shall be matched with an opponent (attempted to be close to your power and previous score during BoC, although this often does not happen). If you are not matched with any opponent, the participants shall be given a “Battlefield Bye Gift” (in my many months of playtime, I have never had this).

When the battlefield begins, go ahead to your “Battlefield” building, found near your Walls in your city and click “Battle of Constantinople”. You can then join the battlefield assuming the conditions are met (you are signed up – you have no troops in your hospital – you have no outgoing marches).

At the start you are given a 5 minute peace period in which both alliances stay in their designated area, without the ability to move troops or teleport. I suggest using this time to develop a strategy for who is to capture what building, and to size up your opponent.

After the five minute peace treaty is over, you are free to teleport and attack as you wish. Remember, during Battlefield troops are wounded, not killed, they cost zero resources to heal and take less time to do so, traps and troops from subordinate cities are killed and resources cannot be plundered. At the end of Battlefield, all troops in the hospital are automatically healed.

At the start the alliance is given a total amount of 40 teleport opportunities. Use these wisely. More can be earned by occupying Portal Nodes throughout the map.

You cannot enter the Battlefield if you choose to leave, and will receive no reward if you do quit.

Strategies

  • Occupy the Knight’s hall ASAP and get it reinforced – it will give you information on enemy positions (since warrants cannot be used in Battlefield) and is generally annoying to your enemy. It also wastes their traps allowing you to attack easier
  • Try and assign some of your member to control portals, this will allow you to stay flexible in position – extremely useful in a situation in which you cannot bubble
  • GHOST! GHOST! GHOST! Remember to ghost your troops at all times, it only takes a few seconds for someone to port next to you and wipe you even if you are super fast – don’t rely on your connection to be perfect, take into account potential latency issues.
  • Rally the enemies as soon as possible (if you believe you can kill them) – unless you are willing to spend a lot of healing speed ups, kill their bigs quickly before they pick you off one by one. Its a make or break manoeuvre but if done correctly it will pay of hugely towards the success of your battlefield
  • Around Constantinople there are limited spaces in which you may port close by – I would suggest filling these with one troop army camps or players. This gives warning and delay to any attacks inbound if you control Constantinople, and leaves the enemy vulnerable

Rewards

After the Battle, players earn rewards depending on a win / loss and their personal score.

These rewards may include:

  • Badge
  • Nibelungenlied Chest (End of season event exclusive)
  • Constantinople Gem Chest
  • Constantinople Resource Chest
  • Constantinople Speed up Chest
  • Constantinople Gold Chest
  • Food
  • Stone
  • Refining Stones
  • Healing Speed ups (30 minutes a piece)

Something to Remember

Being the first player in your alliance to occupy a node gains scores directly to personal and alliance amount. Anyone who reinforces these nodes on top of this gain a percentage of this score, but it does not count towards the alliance score, just personal – so it does not helped your alliance from a score point of view.
