Introduction
On the 21st of February, Evony released version 4.93. This update saw five new generals added to the game, changes to Art Hall, a new deck of civilization cards, changes to previous civilization card buffs, a new relic, new champion, and loads more. This post will discuss these changes, and link to resources where you can learn more.
Starry Pilgrimage Event
First, lets start with the “Starry Pilgrimage Event” – this is the name of the series of events currently running on Evony. All but one of these events are old events – the only new feature in Evony (although certainly not new in the mobile gaming industry) is the “Grace of Star Trail”. The events are pretty good for coiners – although admittedly lacking for the F2P. I won’t discuss all of the events, as its much the same as we have all seen before, but I will explain the Grace of Star Trail.
Grace of Star Trail Event Explained

This event is featured in many gacha-games. Essentially you purchase tokens (in this case “Star Trail Coins”) which you then use to spin on this wheel of rewards. The probabilities of receiving the big ticket prizes is quite low, although there are certainties built in. For example, if you spin 400 times you will receive the Historic General Hera.
What is interesting in Evony’s take on this event, is that often gacha-games, such as Legend of Mushroom, allow free-to-play players to gain a small amount of tokens – which Evony does too, but the difference is the token do not disappear and the event returns frequently. Top Games has confirmed the tokens will disappear at the end of the event:
“Any remaining Swift Starfeathers will disappear after the event. Please use them as soon as possible.”
This allows F2P players to eventually save up enough tokens until they will be guaranteed the prizes. It means that if you are paying, you are certainly winning, but if you are F2P you can still earn the rewards – just at a much slower pace. This means that everything is obtainable to F2P.
The guarantees for the big ticket items are as follows – in brackets you can find the “per spin” odds:
- 50 Spins = Starlit Tickets (6-12.5%, unclear on quantity)
- 240 Spins = Blood of Ares (2%)
- 400 Spins = Hera (0.1%)
- 500 Spins = Grand Prize – Flexible Special Box (0.4%), Level 4 Debuff Skill Book Chest (0.4%), or Level 4 Officer Skill Book Chest (0.4%)
Interestingly, there is also officer general chests (0.1%) available from normal spinning – if you are lucky enough. It is also worth noting that these rewards are “every X draws” – so you can win the rewards repeatedly.
If you win Starlit tickets, you can then head to the Starlit shop to redeem for various rewards.
Wave of New Generals
It is usual by now for Evony to drop two generals in the same update, but five is unheard of! This is because of new collections added to the Art Hall – 3 of the new generals are required for this, and as such are only available through packs for the General Hall. This is extremely disappointing as the grind for F2P players to achieve this will likely takes several years. Even coiners are frustrated as they have saved a lot of general tokens, which in this instance are useless. Nonetheless, here is the breakdown on all of the new Generals:
- Arthur Wellesley – a European Ranged General: https://theriagames.com/guide/evony-arthur-wellesley/
- Seo Shōnagon – a Japanese Siege General: https://theriagames.com/guide/evony-seo-shonagon/
- Qin Qiong – a Chinese Ground General: https://theriagames.com/guide/evony-qin-qiong/
- Hermes – an Other Mounted General: https://theriagames.com/guide/evony-hermes/
- Artemis – an Other Mounted General: https://theriagames.com/guide/evony-artemis/
The first three generals listed above are for the Art Hall, and do not have covenants. The remaining two are from the Starry Pilgrimage event, and do have covenants – Artemis also has a skin you can win in one of the events. Speaking of Art Hall, we have updated our Art Hall General Checker Tool – this tool allows you to simply insert a generals name, and it will tell you whether they are required for the art hall or not – check it out here.
Its very interesting to see a wave of new Generals all at once – if not slightly stressful, but what I find particularly interesting is the spread of Generals. We have at least one new general for each troop type – in my 6 years of playing Evony, I don’t think I have ever seen this happen all at once before. Theria will be rushing to update our best general charts over the weekend, and I am excited to see how this shakes things up – particularly the potential combination of Hermes and Artemis.
Changes to Relics & New Ancient Relic
Evony just added “Premium General Fragments” as one of the rewards in the relic chamber – a change that will come as a sigh of relief to the F2P community. This is a very F2P-friendly move from Top Games, and it is good to see them making generals more accessible (but I haven’t forgotten about the Art Hall generals…).
Furthermore, they have also added a new relic type – “Ancient”. The ancient relic costs 10 Magic Relics to compose, making them very expensive, and unlike other relics – they only last for 24 hours. We are yet to fully understand the rewards available in them, but it is confirmed runestone chests are available. For further information, check out our updated relics guide.
New Champion – Demeter
This update also introduced a new Champion named “Demeter”. This champion can be acquired by redeeming a “Golden Wheat Ear”, which for a small price of 350 USD, can be yours as you reach level 5 in the King’s Party event. The buffs for this champion are pretty solid, even delivering up to 90% debuff to enemy siege HP. For more information, check out our champion guide.
Miscellaneous
- Introduction of new event boss “Cacinus”. You can earn Carcinus’ Claws to spawn these in near your keep. The rewards are nothing special for bigger alliance that are capable of high level rallies.
- Increase in War Medal rewards
- Significant increase in Sulis’ Wishing Pool rewards
- New deck of Civilization Cards
- Civilization Cards buff-activation requirements changed for the better
