Evony Olav II’s Backstory
Olav II, the Sword of the North and Light of the Faith, was both king and guardian of Norway. In the turbulent age of Vikings, he forged a new destiny for his people, wielding sword and cross to reshape the soul of Scandinavia.
Tempered by battle across England, France, and the Baltic, Olav returned in 1015 to seize Norway’s crown, declaring himself “Servant of God, King of the People”. With fierce resolve, he abolished pagan rites, burned idols, raised churches, and forged a new order under faith and law, uniting the old Viking clans under a common creed.
Though his reforms brought exile and death, they also immortalized him. Revered as the source of Norway’s faith and unity, Olav was canonized as Saint Olav, his name etched into churches, crowns, and the nation’s spirit. He was both king and martyr, leading Norway into a new era.
